Ex-Pentagon general target of leak investigation, sources say

Legal sources tell NBC News that the former second ranking officer in the U.S. military is now the target of a Justice Department investigation into a politically sensitive leak of classified information about a covert U.S. cyber attack on Iran’s nuclear program.

According to legal sources, Retired Marine Gen. James “Hoss” Cartwright, the former vice chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, has received a target letter informing him that he’s under investigation for allegedly leaking information about a massive attack using a computer virus named Stuxnet on Iran’s nuclear facilities. Gen. Cartwright, 63, becomes the latest individual targeted over alleged leaks by the Obama administration, which has already prosecuted or charged eight individuals under the Espionage Act.

Last year, the New York Times reported that Cartwright, a four-star general who was vice chairman of the Joint Chiefs from 2007 to 2011, conceived and ran the cyber operation, called Olympic Games, under Presidents Bush and Obama. According to the front-page story by chief Washington correspondent David Sanger, President Obama ordered the cyber attacks sped up, and in 2010 an attack using the Stuxnet worm temporarily disabled 1,000 centrifuges that the Iranians were using to enrich uranium.

People will figure out some day that many of these leaks that do damage to the countries "actual" defense structure (not things like the Snowden info) are all brought about by Mossad

Military generals don't "leak" information!

If one of our military heads isn't "friendly" to Israel, they're "outed".

who DOES like a tattle tail?

sometimes telling can be helpful, and sometimes it can just be self interest that ends up harming others

not always a good thing or always a bad thing either,,,
...

......just a thought

A "tattle tail" is a person who reports WRONG DOING or reports a CRIME.

Who does like tattle tails?

THE NSA, THE CIA, THE FBI, THE POLICE, ETC.

But when they are the criminals, they don't like to be told on. Because they are the authorities 'in charge' they call it espionage or treason.

a tattle tail, to me, is someone with an intent to start trouble for someone else,, as opposed to an intent to help someone

I dont care for tattle tails personally

but I appreciate when people report crimes so that person doesnt hurt someone else,,for instance

someone telling the world about a senator sleeping with his maid,, thats to hurt the senator,, it really isnt about helping anyone,,,,and little of someone to do,, in my opinion

When a tattle tail reports a crime, he does start trouble for someone else... the criminals.

So do you think you should help the criminals?

Any time a senator is sleeping around with anyone, there is an opportunity for blackmail. If a senator is being dishonest with his wife, then how dishonest is he being with the people that elected him?

Its about him lying about his character.

People shouldn't join the Military, if they don't know how to keep their mouth shut and follow confidential orders. Tattletails do not belong in the Military.

I agree with your first sentence. People shouldn't join the Military.

Oh and they shouldn't join the Mafia either if the don't know how to keep their mouth shut and follow orders.

But our Military IS NOT THE MAFIA.... OR IS IT?

We are supposed to be "the good guys" right?

And when our military, which we support with OUR taxes are caught doing war crimes that's immoral and illegal, then to keep your mouth shut is supporting EVIL.

EVIL EVIL EVIL.

They are call whistle blowers and they should expose EVIL DOERS.

I say good for them for exposing EVIL DOERS.

I say that "classified" is a tool to hide the evil works of the evil empire.

So rest assured that if I find proof that you killed someone, I will release that information to the world.

Anyone who has a job that gives them the "licence to kill" (CIA) is, in my opinion, working for the evil empire.
