Is the Media being too harsh on Paula Deen's "racial" statments? I am not a Paula Deen fan but I would say yes. |

No. The media is always around in many people's business. She is going to loose some of her business and that is the price you pay for saying, everything you feel out in public. She apologized but only because she thought it would please ALL her customers and producers.

She was sentimental of the southern flair, which has been saturated with impropriety. It appears that she didn't realize the impact of her personal indiscretions. |

the media is what made it an issue
but for reporting the story, she would still be aknowledged for her culinary talents, as she should be,,, |

I think of the teacher that was fired for using the word "negro"in Spanish class and she was black.

I don't think she should have thought before she spoke, being in business like she is. It will have some effect. Due to Media in this country, people should know what happens when you open your mouth on subjects that the public maynot take well. Imho btw I already posted about this in the topic..OOPS here. |

I think of the teacher that was fired for using the word "negro"in Spanish class and she was black. we sometimes cant seperat peoples momentary actions, mistakes, words, from what that person actually is made to do and how well they do THAT thing,,, I really dont care what a culinary expert thinks of whites, blacks, or anything else unless they are somehow taking it as far as manipulating their food,,, if they are a good cook, they are a good cook, and deserve to earn a living with what they know |

I don't feel she should be fired but I do think she should have known better. Many people grow up like she did but they may not be in business trying to sell food to the public. She should have realized that her remarks would effect her business. I have never bought her food.

They can call me what they want to, just give me the food. Yummmm. |

I wonder if Paula had been forewarned that she would someday be called to the carpet on this behavior? |

But I still think she should have not said what she did, even if she felt it. Sometimes, it is not wise to say everything you feel. And, she is in the SPOT light a lot. |

I just don't think that they should make a public spectacle of her.

I just don't think that they should make a public spectacle of her. "He that is without sin..." That is what the Media in the US does to people, whether it is a mistake, lie, or truth they just put it out there. |
