Everything is a choice.

This is life’s greatest truth and hardest lesson. It is a great truth because it reminds us of our power. Not power over others, but the often untapped power to be ourselves and to live the life we have imagined.

It is a hard lesson, because it causes us to realize that we have chosen the life we are living right now. It is perhaps frightening for us to think that we have chosen to live our life exactly as it is today. Frightening because we may not like what we find when we look at our lives today. But also liberating, because we can now begin to choose what we will find when we lok at our life in the tomorows that lie unlived before us.

What will you see when you look at your life ten years from now? What will you choose?

Life is choices.

.....

Some may say that we do not choose our circumstances. You’d be surprised. We have much more power over the circumstances of our lives than most men and women would ever admit. And even if circumstances are thrust upon us, we choose how we respond to those circumstances.

In other words, people are victims of their own choices but don't necessarily want to admit it.

Some circumstances we do not choose. Sometimes other people put us in circumstances and we have to choose which way to get out of them, if at all possible. Most things are a choice.

I was kicked out of the Psychology Honours program for wanting to study Process and Praxis (Satre) as I was told the exercises would be too dangerous for people, HOWEVER I later see these same exercises in the works of Tony Robbins and others work. I coulda been a millionaire too!

A well-meaning friend sort of put me in a "pickle." But I'm "owning-up" to the point where I could have (and should have) said "no thanks!"...Can't change the past. But I'm trying to learn all I can from the experience. (For the future.)

yes, people have responsibility in everything that they do in life,,,,not necessarily SOLE repsonsibility, for the outcomes, but definitely , we open the curtain that reveals the prize or the punishment

I was responsible for making the choice to stay with a stranger , i was not solely responsible for the assault that followed

but I CHOSE to open that curtain, and I accept my responsibility in it , my bad choice,,,,

msharmony...We must be on the same "wave-length." Over the past couple of days I've been trying to "own-up" to everything...I like your analogy about "opening the curtain." Really sorry that you were assaulted.

That's a very interesting subject.

Though at times people are brought in situations that they didn't necessarily choose but were rather born in them, however its all up to an individual how you choose your tomorrow to be like...

Its quit a complex subject cause all given answers seems right to me,

Though i'm surounded by innocent beings (kids) who life's a bit rough on then due to situations that they're born in, one can only offer a little help for now & motivate them to make better choises,

The truth is, its all up to them about their future.

I do believe that our choices are important and predominate

circumstances can limit our choices and then within those limits we make the best choices we can

in 10 years looking at my life I see comfort and cabana boys  drool

A good many times we have to re-align our choices because of outside influnces, and circumstances. Part of being successfull is forming a gameplan that includes changes, if they come up. And they do.

Betcha no one ever planned to be divorced.

I TOTALLY AGREE with this, learned it years ago & it HELPED TREMENDOUSLY.

Simple example; BREATHING. WE can CHOSE to NOT BREATH (hold our breath), till we pass out. Then our bodies natural desire to live will start us breathing. SO for me, IF I could do that, I could learn to control my temper. No need for me to get so angry. Learned to express my frustrations; that came out as anger; sooner & in a better way.

ALL OF LIFE IS A CHOICE & WE ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR OUR CHOICES.

Another way to look at it.

INTENTIONS = RESULTS. IF YOU REALLY INTEND ; YOU WILL MAKE IT HAPPEN.

You can choose not to go down that known bumpy road at the juncture but our intended "better"
Chose is still an uncharted path.
We can make choses to better our environment but can not completely controll our environment.
"Life is what happens to us when we're busy making plans" long term realistic goals are certainly achievable but may need to be adjuster due to the unexpected.
