Aw heck! use duct tape to cover the danged button! And let em knock!

If it is wireless...open the cover of the button. There will be a series of switches in there. just move one of them to another position and then do the same to the one at the bell. Make sure they match. If they are set like the neighbors it will ring there too.
I put in an garage door opener and it was set the same as my nsighbors. I pushed my button and his would go down!!LOL I played with him for a couple hours before I changed it!!

Yes, the little piece that is supposed to be outside (the one that needs batteries) is in my hand right now. I've also taken the big inside piece off and discovered that we have a foghorn option! OH WHAT FUN!

Look up the type of bell on the internet and find an instruction book there for that particular bell. There should be an ID tag on the bell somewhere. There may be instructions inside the case somewhere also!!
