Terrorism? We in nigeria have had our fair share of the bitter experience.i witnessed urgly sites and it was providence that saved me many times from being slughtered like ram by the bad men.but i soon realised that its not about religion, its rather about bad people with their ego centric ambition and narrow interests/views.thats how i see it now until anyone can prove me wrong

whoa

I agree with the OP terrorists have agenda of power and control and they use their religious beliefs as an exucse to control and terrorize others. Islam is a perfect example. it's akin to Christianity before the middle ages. Islam's stated goal is to slaughter those who will not convert. sounds like terrorism to me

most of us in the west would be perfectly happy to leave the middle east and let you kill each other - which is exactly what would happen - like syria right now. societies there have not learned to move beyond civil war with atrocities. It's hard to walk away from illegal child labor and abuse of women tho

In africa (as well as the middle east) it's about old tribal ties and land wars - often if a western power is there such as france or the us, it is to prevent the tribes from committing atrocities, and to attempt some peaceful resolution. that has been very difficult in that part of the world. I'm torn. Part of me feels like we should just walk away, but another part of me sees chemical weapons, villages burned by "freedom fighters," and a little girl hospitalized, barely alive just because she wanted to go to school...

terrorism is and always will be about power

its the ultimate violent pissing contest

why are there not more 'religious' females responsible for terrorist acts?,,,,,

men kill men for power or greed,, politics, religion, even relationships, are just the scapegoat

Unfortunately terrorism has no universal definition which presents problems in many areas. Yet many high education institutions and governments do share a similar definition: (converted to my own words) an act of violence committed on civilians perpetrated in order to influence government policy.
now through this definition and historical episodes we can see religion has no part in the theory of terrorism. However, the practice of terrorism does tend to have strong religious roots today.
