More and more schools are banning cheering at graduation ceremonies. Arrests have been made and diplomas have been withheld over this. Yes, being happy for one of your kid’s greatest accomplishments is now being frowned upon by the school system.

It’s bad enough that people have a problem with cheering on your children, but withholding a diploma? Making arrests? For cheering? I feel as though we’ve gone way too far as a politically correct society. Of course, this is to protect the feelings of the kids who might not have people attending their graduation for any reason. So what?

How do you feel about this? Have we gone too far? Take our poll below.

to arrest is a big extreme, I havent heard of such a case

unless it was full out disturbing the peace maybe ?

but I do understand some schools policy to wait until all kids have received a diploma to applaud for the CLASS,, it does make for a bit smoother/shorter process,,,and people can hear the names of each student without straining over the sound of applause,,,,

Wut don't make no sense to this trailer trash redneck is;
How can a student be held accountable, by staff holding their diploma, for the actions of others?

The student has invited them to the graduation I guess. Here the students are given only a number of tickets for family and friends.

You can't arrest someone for cheering.
They'd have to get violent and do something criminal.

First you couldn't throw your hat,
Now you can't cheer.

Public school has always been a prison in disguise for me and this is the evidence to prove it!

Screw you Government Public School Prisons!
I'll send my kids to a Private School before I let you teach my kids to be whatever it is you want them to be!

Just for the record.
I don't have kids yet.

Haven't experienced anything like this in my neck of the woods...The system is just getting started with stripping us of our rights...it's going to get worse.

A general State education is a mere contrivance for moulding people to be exactly like one another; and as the mould in which it casts them is that which pleases the dominant power in the government, whether this be a monarch, an aristocracy, or a majority of the existing generation; in proportion as it is efficient and successful, it establishes a despotism over the mind, leading by a natural tendency to one over the body." - John Stuart Mill, "On Liberty"

"Education is a weapon whose effects depend on who holds it in his hands and at whom it is aimed." - Joseph Stalin

"It is the absolute right of the State to supervise the formation of public opinion." - Joseph Goebbels
