Are u calling me a dumba$$, sir? Why am I not listed here? Just because the island is flat doesn't mean it isn't elevated off the water??? How tall is the flat island from the water? It could be 10 feet from the surface and branches wouldn't get wet...... No.. not at all.. I'm calling you one of... "many others"... Nope.. The island is only a few inches above the water line... and I really should have said.. .."without the tree falling into the water"... instead of getting wet.., but I was busy all day.. and edit time has expired.. |

I'd cut it during lowtide? ....GREAT to see this thread awaken... hullo, tech! how'd you been? Nope... that's not it.., because the island is a 1000 ft. from any other land mass, remember.. and the water is deep all around it.. Good to see you working your brain, though..., Jo.. LOL! ..at least a few people have tried.. |

Tip: You really need to think outside of the box, for this one..

Tip: You really need to think outside of the box, for this one.. Does it involve making the "cut" in a certain shape or angle? |
No.., but it does involve certain variables...
I guess I need to give a clue, like Princess usually does.. Jo said something in her guess..., that is why people go in the wrong direction with their thinking, about what kind of island it is.. and where it is.. |

What kind of tree?

What kind of tree? That has nothing to do with it, but good try, Princess.. Keep thinking.. I know you will figure it out... I heard this in the 1970's.. and it took me a day or two.. |

Are there rocks nearby?
Half of the island would hold the tree and so the tree would not fall into the water no matter how you cut it

the tree is on an island in a lake that freezes over... soooo,.................cut it in the wintertime...... |

Half of the island would hold the tree and so the tree would not fall into the water no matter how you cut it But.. you have to let it "free-fall".., which means nothing can be done to it, after the one cut is made.., so it would still end up in the water... |

the tree is on an island in a lake that freezes over... soooo,.................cut it in the wintertime...... BINGO..! We have a winner..!! Must have heard this before, right..? 1970's..? or did you Google it..? If none of the above.., Argo just won a free non-expenses paid trip to Wawa, Ontario... |

on which topic you chatting

the clues gave it to me.....1000 feet = little over 3 football fields...thats not that far so lake is reasonable....and tide hint = when is there no tide or when doesn't the water move....
cant wait to get to Wawa Canada... are the outhouses fully equipped with all the amenities ?? ..lollz |

Yes... I knew the clue would help.., although when I was 12 and first heard this.., we weren't given any clues at all.. Took me about 52 hours to figure it out.. (not without any sleep in there, though.. LOL!)
Here's another one.., but it's much easier.. and the farmers and other animal people in here should refrain from giving it away too fast... LOL! There are two cows..., approximately 3 years old.., being raised in Alberta, Canada.. They are both healthy.. and have healthy sexual functions.. One is a male cow.. and the other one is female.. Both are attracted to each other.. If these two cows were to mate and have an off-spring.. and they consumated in June.., what is the likelihood of the calf/calves being male of female..., when they are born..? i.e.: What percentage chance is there, of them being male/female calves..? |
