Here is the back story. I do not have cable or satellite TV. I have one of those boxes that you got a coupon for when TV was going digital and a digital antenna. So my TV is free. I got a new job and I miss watching House and Big Bang Theory. I am looking for a DVR that will record my shows with out having to pay for a subscription, that I do not have to record to a dvd-r/w disk. Any brand/model suggestions please. Also, I would like to keep the price under $150.

Unfortunately, almost all dvr's come with subscriptions, so unless you know how to rip/download movies for free on your computer (hulu, youtube, ect..), you're gonna have to fork over some cash to get a dvr box. The most common one is Tivo, but idk what their prices range from. All I know is that they have different packages depending on what you watch and how many channels you want.

I checked out Google, and came across this... http://www.digitalconnection.com/products/video/tvixm6620np.asp however its more than the price you are looking for.

Honestly, why not just do Netflix? it's cheap, and you can watch them whenever you want

After the initial payment for the equipment that I will have for the rest of my life, I was hoping to go record for free. It is not that I want to keep the show I record forever and I sure do not want to have to burn it to a disk. And I would rather not wait for the current tv show to become available on NetFlix. If I can not do that for a reasonable first investment. I can do without I guess.

Thank you for your suggestions.

In my last apartment, I didn't have cable/dish. I watched my shows on Hulu.com.
Just an idea for you.

thank you cutiepie and momoiro, although both suggestions are appreciated, I have tried Hulu and others and my connection is so slow it takes 2 hours to watch a half hour program.

Any DVR suggestions please. Anyone? Bueler, Bueler, Bueler?

That's too bad. How about upgrading to a faster connection?

I just watched that movie yesterday!
