Starting Somewhere



Seemingly every article of clothing I owned
was scattered across the floor
dirty ones here
clean ones over there
and the “I’m not sure” ones
over in that corner

I step over the mess towards the closet door
that was slightly ajar
and to my amazement it wasn’t empty
almost but not empty
I had a few pairs of shoes in there
though I hadn’t worn them in ages
but at least they were in there . . . and well, that was a start

I checked the clock
YIKES!!
I need to hurry up and clean since she’ll be here soon
but I don’t feel like it
I just want to be lazy but lazy isn’t impressive so . . . yeah I gotta clean this place

You've got to start somewhere.
