Watching far too many movies and tv shows for your own good. That crap might happen in LAWLESS USA but it does not happen in Europe..fantasy island that deserves no response to what should happen. Not in Europe,hmm? Look no farther than the UK,since the Gunban! How does that explain all the riots with hordes throwing crap at the police in riot gear? At least in America ...we shoot them....there...you go Palestinian on them. Rocks and bottles. Save your holier than thou crap for someone else. That was for Sylvantino You got no room to talk

What a story! If the mom shot the son dead, without it being a self defense, she committed murder. She is not to assume, who her son may kill in the future. becauses she really doesn't know that would happen or not. She should get jail time probably less time, maybe long probation, because of the circumstances surrounding her Son's actions. She probably needs counseling as well. Imo

Tawtstrat I'll just clarify, born UK, raised in Ca that Florida thing is weid ?you have the right to bearer arms to protect but even in the Wild West days you still couldn't Just gun one down unjustified, there was such thing as fair gun fight. Witnesses stating otherwise,and they'd shorelly hang. As far as been in a yard, thats not enough in my opinion I no there's a lot of retirees in that state I'm sure they have no problem protecting what there just spent their sifetime acquiring. Mabyee a sign in English, displayed is law for that state, dont no. I like that right and a wish Canada had that, the police here aren't going to protect you any better and police will seldom intervene until after the assault or murder I came to Alberta this past winter as a often do for winter work. I got into an altercation with one guy and It ended up 3 on 1 situation with the end results ,me with a broken leg torn ligaments. The Hospital phoned the cops on me because the staff tried to remove my shoe without undoing it first! right in front of the doctor that said nothing, resulted in me freaking out on both of then. Three cops came, one was areally good with people and talked to me and took over and took my shoe off the right way The other cops were just dickheads, didn't care that I was assaulted, the one cops comment about me been assaulted was, "Welcome to Alberta..lol. So 110 days latter still of work and have lost a pile of money. I guess there's criminal comp but cops didn't take a statment. I geuss my piont is guns can also be a deterrent. so,you really think,that the Gunfighters of Old,at Noon every Day walked out on the Street to prove who was the Fastest? In Hollywood maybe,but definitely not Hollywood FLA. I dont know why you would assume I would think that! My referance cleanly says "there was such thing as a fair gun fight" let not be so f.....n literal! !! So do you agree......you saying this didn't happen? Do you no the definitely of a" fair gun fight" Look at your question to me! How insulting!!!! How dare you!!

When you say "All the riots", do you mean that **** that happened in London about two years ago, or whenever it was, or are you talking about something else? Yeah, great idea though. Just give the cops guns and tell them to shoot anyone that riots or demonstrates. That's what they do in China and that's how you run any repressive regime.

Hence, the tripple apology as it looks to people that my response was directed at you. Next time i'll take it seperate & address it. @tawt So my point was really about me liking the right to bearer arms as many people like myself would only be violent in a self-defence situation. There Amendment gives people that right! if I want the protection then i'm breaking the law, yet thugs will take that chance,so now they have the weapons & the bad intentions. so my self-defense is the old school way that doesn't work any more!

As for the discussion of the hypothetical question in the O.P. which was a story created for television addressing the question of... can people inherit violent tendencies from their parents. I believe it is very possible, but it is not a guarantee that they will automatically give in to their innate urge to kill. Given the hypothetical story mentioned, if it were true, (and some of these shows are based on true stories) my opinion is if this sicko started out torturing animals he deserves to die. Then, if it is discovered that he has also killed a human, it is a pretty good chance that he will kill more people. If the mother takes it upon herself to kill him, then she also has to take on the responsibility for that crime. If I were a member of the jury and went by the letter of the law, I would vote her guilty of man-slaughter (or not guilty by reason of insanity since most people would think her insane to believe that a serial-killer gene exists.) ~which it might. p.s. Combine the serial killer Dad's genes with the vigilante killer genes of the mother, no wonder he was a sicko killer.

Yeah, the cops aren't above the law either. There are cases where people have died in police cells. Cases can be brought against the police for that and I remember one recently where the police officers that were responsible for it were brought to justice. But sure, if the cops don't like you and think that you are a criminal or a trouble maker they can sometimes be a bit heavy handed. I know people that have been roughed up by the police. I didn't say that there's no gun crime at all in the UK because there is some in places like London and Manchester but it just doesn't happen in Edinburgh where I live and nobody here wants guns because that's not going to make anybody apart from a psycho feel safer. There was a case a few years back when some kids broke into this farmer's house and he shot one of them. He was prosecuted. The law says that you can use reasonable force in a situation like that but shooting somebody isn't really considered to be reasonable force. Most burglars don't want to harm anybody and all they want is to pinch your stuff and get out of there. If people started using guns to protect their property, then you would just end up with the theives carrying guns for self defence.

What will happen depends on how good her attorney is & how the jury views the facts. Don't forget, with good time & over crowded prisons, she may only serve 1/3 of her time.
