Ideally for me, it's a matter of balance.

If we think enough alike we'll relate easily, but if we think exactly alike, we will end up with nothing to say to each other.

If we have different strengths and weaknesses, combined we will be stronger as a couple than as individuals.

I enjoy having some common interests with him so we can share in things that give us joy...with someone who gives us joy. But individual interests will give us alone time or with friends giving us healthy breaks from one another sometimes.

I don't want to be joined at the hip with my guy...or have him looking to me for every little entertainment in life either.

I dont know about 'opposites' so much as compliments

for example,, If I am a devout christian, Im probably not gonna be attracted to a devout atheist,,,

however, If I like to cook and hate cleaning, and he hates cooking but loves cleaning,,,,we compliment each other, and that might be something that attracts us,,,,

,,physically speaking, I think a certain amount of 'opposite' my be initially attractive just because we become accustomed to our own physical attributes and people who are not what we are accustomed to seem 'exotic' or different enough to attract our attention

Only if they have magnetic personalities.

I quite agree.
