In the White House’s latest efforts at transparency, the administration announced to reporters that it would brief reporters on the latest shocking developments about the Benghazi situation … behind closed doors. Politico reports that the meeting started at approximately 12:45 PM ET, and that it moved the normal press briefing to 1:45 PM ET. Jay Carney, White House press secretary, did not comment on whether the meeting took place. Politico reports: The off-the-record session was announced to reporters in the wake of an ABC News report showing that White House and State Dept. officials were involved in revising the now-discredited CIA talking points about the attack on Benghazi. The administration routinely exerts pressure on reporters it feels are not kind enough in their coverage. Reporters like Cheryl Attkisson of CBS News have felt the hand of their bosses for “wading dangerously close to advocacy” with regard to Benghazi. No doubt this “off-the-record” meeting was designed to get all the president’s horses and all the president’s men to put the Benghazi humpty dumpty together again. UPDATE: Reporters not invited to the off-the-record briefing are reportedly incredibly unhappy about it: UPDATE II: Jake Tapper of CNN reports that the regularly scheduled press briefing has been delayed even further: UPDATE III: Politico now reports that the meeting has been characterized as "deep background." The existence of the meeting itself is considered "off-the-record." White House spokesman Josh Earnest said, "Deep background means that the info presented by the briefers can be used in reporting but the briefers can't be quoted." So expect a fair number of "White House sources" to appear in reportage for the next few days. UPDATE IV: Jay Carney began his on-the-record press briefing by announcing that 14 news organizations were invited to the closed door briefing, but that it was not a substitute for the on-the-record briefing. Yep, if the WH quits giving the media "news", reporters might actually have to become journalists and work again for a living instead of being pampered celebs with talking points from "anonymous sources" to report as fact

It seems the device used to blow smoke up the collective behinds of the Washington Press Corps overheated on Saturday during intense questioning about the Benghazi cover-up lies workplace violence, causing an evacuation of the West Wing after Jay "Carney" Carney finally barked, "OK, even I can't see where I'm going with this, so let's get out of here." One MSNBC reporter, who could not be identified in the dense cloud, said that it did not bother him/her it, because "I've had so much smoke blown up my behind by this administration you could ride a horse up in there and not need to take off your hat, and that's the way I like it." There was some concern expressed by The Annointed One, and Moo, who is said to have been relieved that it was not lunch burning, and is quoted as saying "ya know with the evil rethuglikkkan sequester harming The Collective Children™ we can't waste anything, so we need to cook every Kobe tenderloin perfectly."

Benghazigate: sent Americans to a hotbed of terrorists, refused requests for added security, took much of what little security they had away, lets 4 Americans to die and then lied to the American people.
IRS Scandal: Knowingly and with intent targeted Conservatives, when outed was forced to apologize. Lying about the Sequester: fireman wouldn't be able to fight fires and all the other lies, when all Sequester is, is a reduction of 2.4% in NEW SPENDING. Food Stamps: Half the country is on them now because of Obama Crony Capitalism for green energy companies: Taking billions of dollars in TAXPAYER money and giving it to companies that pocket the money, promptly declare bankruptcy, keep a portion of the money and funnel much of it back to the Obama machine. GSA extravagant parties during the recession: While millions of people are losing their homes and declaring bankruptcy GSA is spending untold millions of taxpayer money on extravagant parties and recreation and making video's laughing at the stupid American people who pay for it. |
