Bonding
I was what 12 or 13 yeah something like that definitely still wet behind the ears but it was something about that moment man when they started playing “After the Love is Gone” they swayed back and forth and singing along yeah I was still a child but it was then that very moment when I started appreciating real music (even though my brothers and I laughed at our parents dancing) So now, some thirty something years later gray hair (not a lot . . . at least that’s what I tell myself) aching bones and all I sit down with my son and explain to him that that stuff he listens to yada yada rap this with language I don’t use that that isn’t real music no, real music is the old stuff the kind that made you move and when you sung along you knew what the artist was talking about and he responded, “But dad, the music I listen does make me move and I know what they’re saying” Ok, so now I’m baffled or more so stuck on stupid “How can you understand a thing they’re saying?” “Pops you’re just old” and as I think to back in the day . . . yeah we did laugh at our parents but the music was still good . . . “Old??!!!?!!!” |
