So, I might violate probation because someone in California stole my identity and used it when they were arrested for a D.U.I. I called my probation officer to see if I could go to another county to perform at a show and he notified me of the situation. He told me to come in today before I leave for the show.. I hope I don't get arrested.

Anyway, I'm just wondering how someone in California got their hands on my social security number, my date of birth, and my full name. And if I get arrested for this, I'm going to be seriously pissed.

I would assume. The only way to find out is to go to my P.O. The photo has to be different, though. I guess that's the only way to resolve it.

But I'm on felony probation for 3 years and this is my 3rd month. If I violate, I'm definitely going to serve the rest of my time in prison.

I work in the credit industry and identities are stolen a LOT anymore but here are some of the ways that they are mainly stolen. 1) Dr or hospital offices where they have you list on paper all your personal info 2) applications for credit cards etc that are mailed from anywhere BUT the post office (and sometimes from there too but most postal workers are honest)3)giving out info over the phones to people that have called you not that you have called. 4) Out of the trash bins where maybe you threw stuff away with your information (ALWAYS shred everything) and sometimes 5) just at random. If they have made an ID or something their social might not match either once records are checked. Good Luck.

my mother went to the court house and asked for a copy of my divorce decree...she needed no identification, nothing, since it's a public record.

at the top...my full name, social security number, and birthdate.

Oh man.

Call up all your financial institutions and tell them to put a credit alert on your cars/accounts. And file something with the police department so that there's a record that you were trying to resolve this.

Hey Lulu I would let the courthouse know that this is now illegal to give something out with your social on it UNLESS you can prove that it is you asking for it. Name and address they wont do anything about.

try having your 2nd child support check out of 11 years being stolen out of your mailbox. Some heavy drug addict took it and had his ex-wife sign it and cash it for him. She signed her name, her bank account number, my name(misspelled it) and my SSN. Guess what happened to these 2 for only $109? NOTHING!!! I never once see that money again
