None of the Instant Message buttons seem to work on here all of a sudden. When I click one on the Search Online page, nothing happens; if I switch and go to a specific member's page and press the button, the page jumps down, but no IM window opens.
Is this normal? If not, how can I fix it? |

That is not normal, kecksie, and our IM seems to be working as it should. So, if you made a change to your setup recently, I would consider undoing it or adjusting it a bit.

Hi,
No, I have not changed any of my settings, which is why I thought it was a bug fix. Plus, there is some post-it note appearing on the right side of the screen (for notifications, conversations, requests, and activity) that never was there before. I also keep getting prompted to download 2 audio files from Mingle, which I have never seen either. Any ideas? |

Oh . . . and even when I add an exception to allow pop-up windows to open, the IM windows do not always work--sometimes they open, and other times they do not. It is erratic.

Thanks for that information. The Mingle2 IM has certainly been upgraded and we are hammering away at the site-specific kinks.
In any event, the behavior that you guys are describing - the window not opening on occasion - may be due to members being offline. Are you guys primarily clicking the orange 'Instant Message' button (in Searches) in order to IM? If so, then it may be a case of the person going offline shortly before the IM request. |

Yes, I thought of this too. And so whenever I see a member online, I click on the profile to make sure that the person is still online before trying to IM them. But even then the IM window does not open--the page just shifts down and nothing happens. So, it must be a bug somewhere . . . |

I understand, guys. We are continuing to fine tune the IM, so I'm hoping there will be fewer issues in the near future.

The chat feature is also able to be turned off by members who do not wish to IM. One thing I noticed strange was recieving a chat invitation from a 40 something woman, I open the chat window and it shows a 20 yo male, different pic but same screen name! Only being on here a few days I gather the IM feature has been changed or upgraded from what it was...

IM window is not opening in the latest version of Firefox.
It works okay in Chrome, though. |

I'm afraid that your account has the IM bug, jhalku. A small minority of M2 accounts do not have a working IM. We are working on it, but the fix is elusive so far.
