we should leave our troops close to Israel, to help her defend herself against all the crazy muslims over there...

Um... no we shouldn't. Israel wants to be LEFT ALONE.

Our troops are for the protection of AMERICA not Israel.

I have an idea. Tell all the transplants who moved to Israel to move to America. If they are so afraid of their neighbors that surround them, and they want America's protection then tell all the Jews to move here and become tax paying citizens of this country.

That way, they can contribute and also be protected.

Give that small patch of land they call "Israel" back to the natives that were born there.

The natives weren't there in that small patch of land. They were in Jordan until Jordan decided to kick them out. Just like today they had no homeland then and have none today.

Who has no "homeland?"

Yes, who?

Still waiting for an answer. Who are you saying has no homeland?

Well I'm sorry that you had to wait. my apologies.

Genetic analysis suggests that a majority of the Muslims of Palestine, inclusive of Arab citizens of Israel, are descendants of Christians, Jews and other earlier inhabitants of the southern Levant whose core may reach back to prehistoric times. A study of high-resolution haplotypes demonstrated that a substantial portion of Y chromosomes of Israeli Jews (70%) and of Palestinian Muslim Arabs (82%) belonged to the same chromosome pool.[27] Since the time of the Muslim conquests in the 7th century, religious conversions have resulted in Palestinians being predominantly Sunni Muslim by religious affiliation, though there is a significant Palestinian Christian minority of various Christian denominations, as well as Druze and a small Samaritan community. Though Palestinian Jews made up part of the population of Palestine prior to the creation of the State of Israel, few identify as "Palestinian" today.
Acculturation, independent from conversion to Islam, resulted in Palestinians being linguistically and culturally Arab.[15] The vernacular of Palestinians, irrespective of religion, is the Palestinian dialect of Arabic. Many Arab citizens of Israel including Palestinians are bilingual and fluent in Hebrew.
During the British Mandate of Palestine, the term "Palestinian" was used to refer to all people residing there, regardless of religion or ethnicity, and those granted citizenship by the Mandatory authorities were granted "Palestinian citizenship".[44] Other examples include the use of the term Palestine Regiment to refer to the Jewish Infantry Brigade Group of the British Army during World War II, and the term "Palestinian Talmud", which is an alternative name of the Jerusalem Talmud, used mainly in academic sources.

Following the 1948 establishment of the State of Israel, the use and application of the terms "Palestine" and "Palestinian" by and to Palestinian Jews largely dropped from use. For example, the English-language newspaper The Palestine Post, founded by Jews in 1932, changed its name in 1950 to The Jerusalem Post. Jews in Israel and the West Bank today generally identify as Israelis. Arab citizens of Israel identify themselves as Israeli and/or Palestinian and/or Arab.

Maybe this is why Palestinians are hated in the Muslim world.
Shame sad2

The real issue is will americans allow our government to slash social programs and continue aiding other countries? It is true americans are
some of the most intellectually unsophisticated people on the planet earth.

Historically, nations that have befriended and helped Israel have been blessed, those that have stopped or against Israel have not faired so well.

Still, and more importantly, most government programs for the poor do nothing but keep them poor and many people just scam off those programs. Even if many if not most programs for the poor were to be cut, very few people would come close to starving. The American public has to big of a heart. Where as in some parts of the world they view tears of a stranger as only water, American give more in both time and money to help out those in real need.

Right now in Pennsylvania, a person making $29,000 is better off then a person making $55,000 when you add up all the government assistant that person making $29,000 gets. So there is no reason for them to do better because they will loose their government benefits. Adam Carolla has said that his mother had this mind set when he was young and they lived on welfare.

By cutting many programs to the poor will forced many of them to try and improve their own lives and even force the lazy ones to get a job. Now those who are truly in need, will receive help from other Americans. Many people and charities will pick up what the government cannot do and they will do it better. Even some charities that help the poor, refuse to let the poor to take government help and many of them that have came out of this program says it made them a better person.

Sure some people will become homeless but that does not mean they will be living in cardboard boxes under a bridge. If you loose your house, especially if it is one you couldn’t afford to begin with, and move back home with you parents, for the time being you are considered homeless. This happen with a cousin of mind, they built a nice brick house in a nice neighborhood with underground water system and many other things they couldn’t afford and ended up having to sell it and move back home with their parents, after the divorce.

Private companies and groups do far better jobs then government. Government picks many groups and gives the X amount of dollars to solve a problem and we waste billions and get nothing or very little in return. Were as the private groups like the X Prize Foundation has offered money to who ever comes up with the best solution to a problem. Because of this, they found a group that built a car that got 102 miles to the gallon. They found a group that created a way that clean up oil spills four times faster then what the government required and did.

Now some government programs need to be cut because they do nothing. Even the government’s own study has shown that programs like head start has no long lasting effect on the children that take it. They saw no difference in the children that came out of head start and those at risk that didn’t take head start. But privately own charter schools have done better at educating children then the public schools and done if for a fraction of the cost of the public schools.

In the end, the private sector that is made up of the American people, will always do a better job then government. Remember Katrina, FEMA order ice for hurricane victims and had it shipped to Maine and Arizonian while the whole time stopping Wal-Mart from shipping bottles of clean water to give to the victims.

While this might be true, what does it have to do with sending so much aid to Israel and other countries when we are going broke ourselves? Who do you think will come to America's aid when this country takes a dive?

Christian believes that God does the blessing. However even if you don’t believe in God, I remember being shown the track record that when nation stood with Israel and supported them they were in power and wealthy, yet those that would not stand or even against Israel, crumbled.

Now I agree that many of the nations we should not be funding. Why give money to so many nations that hate us? We don’t have to pay them to hate us; they will do it for free. However Israel is different in many ways. Historically the Israelites are one of the most persecuted set of people. The reason we gave them their land back was because many in European countries did not want them in their countries. Yet even though they have their land back, many in the surrounding countries in that are refuse to believe that the Israelites use to live there. They call out to drive them into the sea and believe the only good Israelite is a dead one.

Standing up for Israel and helping them falls more under a moral right of letting a group of people have the right to live and have their own property. The fact that American has a heart is why we are involved with many things around the world.

Author of the book “What’s So Great About America” by Dinesh D’Souza said back in his country of India, that had a saying that “Tears of a stranger is just water.” You are to help a family member but have no need to help a stranger. He also stated that when we go to war, we feed the children of our enemies, we rebuild their cities, we defeat the enemy and leave. Typically Empires come to loot, take over, ruler and enslave the people. We are the only nation I know of that rebuilds those we defeated instead of takes stuff from them.

We went to Indonesia after the tsunami, helped in Hattie and even send support to Japan after they were hit. The Americans are kind and helpful people that want to improve the lives of other nations.
