H. Mr. Miyagi (Wax on Wax off) Interestingly enough, Noriyuki "Pat" Morita (Mr. Miyagi), never actually studied karate. He once said in an interview that he used to fake it in the Karate Kid movies. My top three on your list would be, Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan and Chuck Norris. |

bi rain is a musical artist who hadnt previously trained in martial arts but he worked hard and got impressively good for his work in Ninja Assassin http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rQFz7Pbtf6s I was shocked when I learned he was a huge pop star is South Korea and was not into martial arts until he did this film. I also agree with torgo in that Sonny Chiba should be on this list. Believe it or not, Christian Slater has trained for many years in martial arts. Yeah....I was shocked to learn this too. Lol. Some other notables would be..... Gordon Liu- the movie Kill Em All is bad but if you watch his fight scene at the end (he is the old bald bad guy, you can see just how good he is). Jeff Imada- he normally does small, bad guy roles but if he is in a film chances are he has trained the major stars in that movie and is also the fight choreographer. Bolo Yeung- Dude is legendary. Cynthia Rothrock- She could strangle me to death with those legs of hers any day of the week. I feel that Jet Li is the best amongst the list that you have. Actors who have done fight scenes with him say that he has to slow his fight speed down due to how quick and fast he is. They also report that he is much more stronger than he looks. Norris will always be my all time favorite but I think Li would kick his arse. |

If we're going strictly by movies, I'll go with Chuck Norris from the 70's through to about Firewalker in the mid 80's. After that his films turned to family friendly junk. But Good Guys Wear Black, and especially Silent Rage(aka Chuck Norris vs Michael Myers)
But hey, Bruce Lee is the reason Chuck Norris had a film career, when Lee saw Norris participating in a martial arts bout, he was so impressed(even saying he was the best Westerner he'd seen perform martial arts) he got Norris in his movie. And Jackie Chan, outside of his Hollywood produced movies. The guy broke bones, and that didn't stop him from completing films he was working on. But his American made movies not a fan of because unlike the films he makes in his homeland they just don't know how to film martial arts scenes. Michelle Yeoh is another favorite of mine. Love her in Wing Chun, The Heroic Trio, and her appearances along side Jackie Chan in the Supercop films. Also she performed her own stunt work(even did a motorcycle jump from land to moving train without having ever rode a motorcycle before doing the film. She's the only actress who Jackie Chan ever let do her own stunts in his films.) Sammo Hung has also done some good stuff- Spooky Encounters (1980) is like an Evil Dead martial arts movie, and his work with Jackie Chan- Meals On Wheels(which he directed), and Project A(which Jackie directed) Even though he's not a film actor, I think the guy that would surprise people the most is Bob Barker. He has a black belt, and was trained by Chuck Norris himself. But Bruce Lee in Enter The Dragon remains one of the best Martial Arts films ever. |

Of course if you want to see some really impressive martial arts in film- The Crippled Masters (1979), one actor has no arms, and the other has no legs, considering this, they do some amazing stuff.
