Bus ads many believe are anti-Muslim have roared into San Francisco. The campaign, sponsored by the American Freedom Defense Initiative (AFDI), includes one running on 10 of the city's Muni buses with an image of Osama bin Laden, the burning twin towers and the tagline, “That’s his jihad. What’s yours?”

The ads supposedly quote from extremists. One attributes a statement from the militant group Hamas, which reads: "Killing Jews is worship that brings us closer to Allah."

AFDI had beat back an attempt by New York City’s transit authority to block a similar campaign in that city’s subway system. Comparable ads have run in Chicago and Washington, D.C.

San Francisco officials have condemned the campaign, but they have allowed them to run. The $5,000 the group paid to Muni will go to the Human Rights Commission to study discrimination against the Islamic community, according to the city.

"These offensive ads serve no purpose than to denigrate our city's Arab and Muslim communities," District Attorney George Gascon told local ABC News on Monday. The city has also created a campaign of its own to counter the ads.

Pamela Geller, co-founder of AFDI, said the ads are in response to a campaign sponsored by the Council on American-Islamic Relations in January that promoted the word “jihad” as a nonviolent term. "I don't believe [our] ads in any way say that all Muslims support jihad, but there have been over 20,500 deadly Islamic attacks since 9/11. That's a problem, and we need to talk about it," she said.

The ads will run on 10 of Muni’s 800 buses for one month.

Any sort of advertisement criticizing Israel (for anything) would be stomped out of existence immediately.

Instead of getting angry and defensive, it would seem the "PEACEFULL", muslimes would condemn and do what they could to stop the loons running the shows. Or, they will bring up two thousand year ago history in an attempt to claim others are doing what the loons are doing today.

IT is ignorance and hate. Mostly ignorance when people can make broad statements about a group of BILLIONS with only evidence of a minority of that group. ITs like me starting a campaign about white males being pedophiles and disguising it as ' this is his love, wh at is love to you?" or being serial killers with the tag line 'he exercised his right, will you?'

Why would anyone what to "shine the light" on lunatics? Attention is apparently what they like and want. If people are actually doing the violence, then they should be dealt with as you would deal with any lunatic criminal or serial killer regardless of what lunatic cult they belong to.



I'm sure not all muslims praise and adore those lunatics. There are always idiots who will follow a lunatic leader because people need to be lead because they are weak and stupid.

I know a true story of a woman who went to a Muslim country to rescue her children from her husband who had taken them, and she connected with a network of brave people (Muslims) who risked their lives to help her and her children escape that country safely. They were total strangers who helped her and risked their lives to do so.

Every human being in the world has a choice between good and evil.

good and evil are just words, they have a different meaning to everyone, depending on what you were taught as a child...

What ever. I could post a long list of potential "threats" to humanity, the earth, America etc. but that is just fear mongering is it not?

There is nothing to fear but fear itself. It is fear that causes people to war against each other and to hide in their homes afraid to live their lives.

People worry about problems that don't actually exist most of the time. People worry about what 'might' happen.

People live in fear. Maybe they like it.

But hate speech against some cult does no one any good. It might be inspiration for the next mass murderer to kill a bunch of innocent people.

If you are in the profession of capturing terrorists, or criminals, then do your job, but what you are doing is stirring up hatred among people who can't do a damn thing about it but hate and be afraid and pass on hatred and fear to the next person.

actually, history dictates whats good and evil, and whether you accept it or not... they didn't call it evil when the slave runners killed the slaves, most of Hitlers people didn't think it evil to kill everyone that wasn't white, they didn't think it evil to kill in gods name during the crusades, and a lot of muslims don't think it's evil to kill non muslims... all depends on how you were raised...

Um.... regardless of what some irrational religions and hate filled dictators and leaders try to define as "evil" or right and wrong, a normal human being who is not a pure psychopath knows the difference.
