I happen to love the genre and am wondering if there are any Symphonic Metal heads like myself here? Granted I do listen to a variety, But I know it is a rather new/interesting genre.

What are some of your favorite bands? I like the older Nightwish, Tarja Taurnun (sorry for the misspelling), Epica, and Kamolot.

Thanks I love the genre and it kicks butt. I think it is better than heavy metal. But I still love it still. For me it touches a part of you that no other type does. Old Nightwish was great in my opinion. Tarja's voice is soul touching.

I don't have any particular favorite. I'm a fan of Tran Siberian Orchestra as well as Yngwie Malmsteen/Deep Purple's orchestral stuff.

It is not a new genre... Mekong Delta was pioneering that style back in the 80's I believe. Nightwish, Therion, Dark Tranquility and a legion of others have been changing up throughout ever since.

Furthermore what type of symphonic metal are you most interested in? Power, Gothic, Black, Folk, or straight up Operatic or Classical?
