Do you believe in angels?
I brushed it off with a laugh and a shake of my head
Of course not
If they exist
Why then do I sit here
All alone wishing life would just end?
Staring into the bleak nothingness
In front of me
One day I felt my foot
Slowly slipping off the edge
Wondering how long this balancing act could continue
As I looked down I asked myself who would care
Nobody has been there to catch me before
Why would it change now?
Tightly closing my eyes I let myself fall
And then suddenly he caught me
Bringing me back to level ground
He dried the steady stream of falling tears
Gave this heart hope and courage
This soul a reason to try
So now when someone asks
Do you believe in angels
I smile
Yes I do believe in angels
He caught me the day I let go
Saving my life
Promising never to let go
I hold tight to that promise
Each time life threatens to push me
Over the edge once more
