I honestly don't believe in sex addictions...I just think they like sex and it is an excuse to have sex with whoever they want.
So if you believe in sex addiction, is it wrong for you to keep doing it with her? That would be like asking yourself...if a person is a cocaine freak, is it wrong to do a line with them? What do you think the answer would be?
Like I said, I don't believe in being a sex addict, I think it is an excuse to have sex with everyone....so why not just say you like sex and forget it? All I have to say is be checked and use protections!! NEVER GET WET WITH OUT A RAIN COAT...IT IS JUST NOT SAFE!!!!

Would it be unethical to continue having sex with a person that has a problem with sexual addiction once you know about it?

If the person is a sex addict, that individual needs to seek help. No moral person would want to be involved sexually with a sex addict.

I'm thinking that I'm not responsible for the problems of someone else. If she has an addiction to whatever, and I can indulge myself without becoming addicted, it shouldn't stop me. I'm not her therapist and her addiction has nothing to do with me. If she needs help, there are places to go for it. I'm not forcing her to do anything.

I agree that there are a large number of people that use sex addiction as an excuse for cheating, I've also seen real sex addicts. I've seen men that simply must have sex in any way they can. I've seen them pay money to toothless crack whores because she's all they could find. I've seen them risk their own health and livelihood for a few minutes of pleasure. It's as bad as any homeless junkie.

Non-addicts don't do this kind of thing.

People do all sorts of things for a "buzz". It doesn't necessarily make them "addicts" and although the behaviour tends to involve doing risky things it doesn't always mean ruining their lives. Why did Bill Clinton "not have sex with that woman"? Why did Hugh Grant go with a street hooker in a parking lot when he could have had a high class prostitute with no questions asked and nobody needing to know? Why do people have sex without using protection?

We call something an addiction when it gets out of control. It is an irrational thing and sex is not a rational thing to start off with. You always talk about sex in such a logical way as if it's something that you plan out and always do in a sensible and safe way. Where's the fun in that man? Yeah, it's something that we think about but your whole "always use protection and never let a woman get her claws into you thing" is just so damned clinical. I'm not saying that cheating is a good thing to do but that's the whole point. People do it because they want to feel naughty and it's exciting.

Where so-called "sex addiction" is a problem that requires therapy is when it is self abuse that people indulge in out of self loathing. That's why I say that I would have reservations about having sex with someone like that. I would be doing something to somebody that makes them feel bad. It would be almost like rape or like those threesomes that you hear about where people do it just to say that they have had a threesome but they don't enjoy it at all and just feel dirty and used and can't even face each other afterwards because they just want to forget about the whole thing.

You guys are missing the point. Suppose you weren't interested in a relationship beyond sexual and the addicted person had a clean bill of health from a doctor.

Now, you've found someone willing to give you what you're looking for without insisting on more. Once you've learned that person has a problem, do you still engage in coitus with them?

For you to have any knowledge of the persons addiction you have to know them..to know that they have a clean bill of health means you know them on a personal level(pardon THAT pun..)so what you are really asking is if you would take advantage of somone that you know has this problem, and that you havent as of yet given in to the temptation but 1) either your resolve is weakening and you are about to do what you really want to do, or 2) you have already done it and want to not be the only one who would do so...My vote is to treat your friends the way they want to be treated..this pun is totally intended..

People suffering from bipoar II(2) disorder, during a phase of mania will become a sex addict for a temporary period of time. Temporary could be as long as two years...Im just saying that its not an excuse for these people, its a real thing.
