how old is your baby?

Welcome to motherhood!! Is your baby on the bottle? If so, try a little (very little) cereal in the formula. Some babies schedules get off and they end up sleeping off hours from yours. You might have to limit the daytime sleep hours as well.

learn to sleep when they sleep, the baby is deffently off schedule and you need to work around that. but i agree try some baby cereal

try to keep him/her awake until 9 p.m. Does he/she take a binky? That always worked for me.

at four weeks, they really shouldn't be on a schedule. their stomachs are so small, they need to be frequently fed. if you are nursing, they shouldn't have anything other than breast-milk until they are six months old...if on formula, cereal should be started between four and six months.

make the evenings quiet for her...don't goo and play, don't make a big fuss. when she wakes, change her and feed her quickly, but don't brighten the room or play games. if possible, lay her down while she's still awake, but drowsy. this helps them learn to put themselves to sleep.

don't let her "cry it out", either...this teaches her that she can't trust you, and it ensures that she'll be fully awake.

white noise, for some reason...can be soothing, as well.

We used to take my son for a ride in the car. Didn't take long and he would be asleep.

good advice lulu, just stay calm too, they sense if you are tired and cranky and they just cry more. and the ritual will help...I used to read cat in the hat to my son, he didn't understand it but the soft cadence put him to sleep every time

Great advice lulu, keep the routine quiet as possible, so she will go back to sleep. At four weeks, they sleep more if you maintain a quiet schedule at night.
Good luck
