wrong quoted verses?

Matthew 8:18-20
18 Now when Jesus saw great multitudes about him, he gave commandment to depart unto the other side.

19 And a certain scribe came, and said unto him, Master, I will follow thee whithersoever thou goest.

20 And Jesus saith unto him, The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head

I take it as Jesus saying that you are spiritually dead if you sit around waiting for a love one to die instead of going out and doing what God has called you do. After all you don't know how long before they will die. Maybe one day or six years.

Exactly, when it speaks of being "dead" he is not always referring to our mortal bodies.

Notice 11, says dead to sin but alive to God.

Romans 6:6-11

6 What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? 2 By no means! We are those who have died to sin; how can we live in it any longer? 3 Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? 4 We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.

5 For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we will certainly also be united with him in a resurrection like his. 6 For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body ruled by sin might be done away with,[a] that we should no longer be slaves to sin— 7 because anyone who has died has been set free from sin.

8 Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him. 9 For we know that since Christ was raised from the dead, he cannot die again; death no longer has mastery over him. 10 The death he died, he died to sin once for all; but the life he lives, he lives to God.

11 In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus.

You really made a point and i've learnt something. But i want to
elaborate more on that.Matt
8:19-22,when one of the
desciples said Lord i want to follow u and the other said bt
excuse me let me go and bury
my father and Jesus said
follow me and let the dead
bury the dead.by this Jesus
tries to show that any activity that would be
prefered other than Him is
frevoulity and any person
that doesn't have Jesus in his
life is as good as
dead.Although u r alive living ur normal life bt inasmuch as u
dnt have Jesus and keep His
rules u r a walking dead man. This was the situation of those people that had a burial, spiritually Jesus understood that they would hardly seek for eternal Life. Jesus confirms it in John
14 vs 6.Jesus knew that there are those who
werent eager for the eternal life or to advance the Kingdom bt were concerned with
burial and other worldly
activities and that was why
He called them dead
people. This is situation of any person who's not born again or who's still being tempted by the things of the world where as he/she should be preaching the gospel,in Luke 9: 61-62,when the other requsted to go and bid farewell to those in his house and Jesus said "No man having put his hand to the plow and looking back is fit for the Kingdom of God".This means that anyone who has been saved but is still enticed by frevolous activities or he compromising in one way or the other will advance the Kingdom or make it to Heaven

People who are not filled with the "Holy Spirit" are walking dead men.

Heylo toodygirl u might be right bt i think there's no way an unbeliever or someone who hasn't accepted Jesus be filled with Holy spirit. After repentance there comes filling of the Holy Spirit if u hunger and go for it
