Some couples live toether for many years before finally getting married. Others marry after just a few dates.
How long do take to get to know someone before thinking about marriage? Is living together a must? |

There is no definite answer, it's different for every couple.

I believe it is a great idea to live with someone before taking the plunge. That way you get to see who one another is for real, then decide if forever can work.

Some couples live toether for many years before finally getting married. Others marry after just a few dates. How long do take to get to know someone before thinking about marriage? Is living together a must? Different for every couple, sometimes different for each partner in the relationship....The older I get, the less willing I am to rush into either situation...Living together or marriage...Especially true for me in the case of my long distance relationship with ManO...We both want to be as sure as we can be before one of us makes the 700 mile move because if it doesn't work out we will be dealing with an emotional rupture as well as the financial burden of undoing the move.... |

I date with the possibility in my mind I could be marrying her. I know what I like, I just can't articulate it.

Never been married myself but a guy I worked with married his wife after knowing her for only a week. They have been married and still married for over 30 years.

why are you asking? are you planning on getting married??
the thought had crossed my mind in recent history. My immediate thoughts are to live together or date for at least a year before even considering marriage. Sometimes I wonder if there is something wrong with my attitude when I consider the number of women (in my area) with marriage as an imperative. This article that made me feel better... http://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/the-joint-adventures-well-educated-couples/201206/key-factors-impact-your-odds-marital-success I was shocked to learn that maybe I'm not as careful as I should be! Although I do think that living together for some amount of time is important. It's the only way to really know what you are getting into. I welcome arguments supporting an opposite view to long term dating. |

There is no definite answer, it's different for every couple. Are you really saying that it depends on the girl you are involved with? This is really rather interesting. Aren't you afraid of making the wrong decision caused by a period of infatuation? |
