Ecclesiastes 1
9. The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun.

In other words, if it happens once it will happen again.

Keep His Commandments
Matthew 5
17. Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.
18. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
19. Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

Jesus said here He did not come to change the law. He did come to fulfill the blood scarf ice need to cover our sin but we are to keep his law. Why?

Deuteronomy 28
1. And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the Lord thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the Lord thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth:
2. And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the Lord thy God.
3. Blessed shalt thou be in the city, and blessed shalt thou be in the field.
4. Blessed shall be the fruit of thy body, and the fruit of thy ground, and the fruit of thy cattle, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep.
5. Blessed shall be thy basket and thy store.
6. Blessed shalt thou be when thou comest in, and blessed shalt thou be when thou goest out.
7. The Lord shall cause thine enemies that rise up against thee to be smitten before thy face: they shall come out against thee one way, and flee before thee seven ways.
8. The Lord shall command the blessing upon thee in thy storehouses, and in all that thou settest thine hand unto; and he shall bless thee in the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee.
9. The Lord shall establish thee an holy people unto himself, as he hath sworn unto thee, if thou shalt keep the commandments of the Lord thy God, and walk in his ways.
10. And all people of the earth shall see that thou art called by the name of Lord; and they shall be afraid of thee.
11. And the Lord shall make thee plenteous in goods, in the fruit of thy body, and in the fruit of thy cattle, and in the fruit of thy ground, in the land which the Lord sware unto thy fathers to give thee.
12. The Lord shall open unto thee his good treasure, the heaven to give the rain unto thy land in his season, and to bless all the work of thine hand: and thou shalt lend unto many nations, and thou shalt not borrow.
13. And the Lord shall make thee the head, and not the tail; and thou shalt be above only, and thou shalt not be beneath; if that thou hearken unto the commandments of the Lord thy God, which I command thee this day, to observe and to do them:
14. And thou shalt not go aside from any of the words which I command thee this day, to the right hand, or to the left, to go after other gods to serve them.
15. But it shall come to pass, if thou wilt not hearken unto the voice of the Lord thy God, to observe to do all his commandments and his statutes which I command thee this day; that all these curses shall come upon thee, and overtake thee:
16. Cursed shalt thou be in the city, and cursed shalt thou be in the field.
17. Cursed shall be thy basket and thy store.
18. Cursed shall be the fruit of thy body, and the fruit of thy land, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep.
19. Cursed shalt thou be when thou comest in, and cursed shalt thou be when thou goest out.
20. The Lord shall send upon thee cursing, vexation, and rebuke, in all that thou settest thine hand unto for to do, until thou be destroyed, and until thou perish quickly; because of the wickedness of thy doings, whereby thou hast forsaken me.
21. The Lord shall make the pestilence cleave unto thee, until he have consumed thee from off the land, whither thou goest to possess it.
22. The Lord shall smite thee with a consumption, and with a fever, and with an inflammation, and with an extreme burning, and with the sword, and with blasting, and with mildew; and they shall pursue thee until thou perish.
23. And thy heaven that is over thy head shall be brass, and the earth that is under thee shall be iron.
24. The Lord shall make the rain of thy land powder and dust: from heaven shall it come down upon thee, until thou be destroyed.
25. The Lord shall cause thee to be smitten before thine enemies: thou shalt go out one way against them, and flee seven ways before them: and shalt be removed into all the kingdoms of the earth.
26. And thy carcase shall be meat unto all fowls of the air, and unto the beasts of the earth, and no man shall fray them away.
27. The Lord will smite thee with the botch of Egypt, and with the emerods, and with the scab, and with the itch, whereof thou canst not be healed.
28. The Lord shall smite thee with madness, and blindness, and astonishment of heart:
29. And thou shalt grope at noonday, as the blind gropeth in darkness, and thou shalt not prosper in thy ways: and thou shalt be only oppressed and spoiled evermore, and no man shall save thee.

This really is not rocket science here if you think about. Example would be if you open the safety rules when messing with fire you will not get burn but if you ignore, well you know what happens.

The commandment can be divided into two categories, spirit and flesh. Spirit deal with how to serve God as well as prayer but flesh deals with each other and ourselves. God didn’t give us the health laws just to take up space. They were placed there to lets us know how to stay healthy from what to eat, what sex actions not to do to where to put the toilet.

Exodus 20
13. Thou shalt not kill.
14. Thou shalt not commit adultery.
15. Thou shalt not steal.
16. Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.
17. Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ***, nor any thing that is thy neighbour's.

We have aloud and accepted the breaking of the commandment. We have easily broken the commandants in Exodus 20:15-17 in our own government. We have laws that encourage people to steal using the law or government, slandering people and coveting what someone else have. And laws allowing this keep getting passed and promoted all in the name of helping people.

Tithing and Charity
Now we are to help people and part of tithing is for that but we are to be charitable. Let’s focus on tithing since that falls under commandments.

Malachi 3
7. Even from the days of your fathers ye are gone away from mine ordinances, and have not kept them. Return unto me, and I will return unto you, saith the Lord of hosts. But ye said, Wherein shall we return?
8. Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings.
9. Ye are cursed with a curse: for ye have robbed me, even this whole nation.
10. Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.
11. And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the Lord of hosts.
12. And all nations shall call you blessed: for ye shall be a delightsome land, saith the Lord of hosts.

The storehouse is where one keeps things, normally for emergencies. Now for the most part, the Priest were not suppose to be farming or hunting but tending to the people’s needs so the tithes went to feed the priest and pay for what they need but also the tithes were for those in need. Normally since most of the stuff was local, they knew who was really in need and who was lazy. Remember that 2 Thessalonians 3:10 says if someone that can work refuses to work, then they don’t eat.

Deuteronomy 15
7. If there be among you a poor man of one of thy brethren within any of thy gates in thy land which the Lord thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not harden thine heart, nor shut thine hand from thy poor brother:
8. But thou shalt open thine hand wide unto him, and shalt surely lend him sufficient for his need, in that which he wanteth.
9. Beware that there be not a thought in thy wicked heart, saying, The seventh year, the year of release, is at hand; and thine eye be evil against thy poor brother, and thou givest him nought; and he cry unto the Lord against thee, and it be sin unto thee.
10. Thou shalt surely give him, and thine heart shall not be grieved when thou givest unto him: because that for this thing the Lord thy God shall bless thee in all thy works, and in all that thou puttest thine hand unto.
11. For the poor shall never cease out of the land: therefore I command thee, saying, Thou shalt open thine hand wide unto thy brother, to thy poor, and to thy needy, in thy land.

The fact is there will always be poor people. Now what we can poor in America is not the same as someone in a cardboard box looking for food in the trash can. Although I know a few people we call poor because they spend their money on I-phones instead of food. But there are those that are truly in need. And sometimes lending is not always money nor money is what some of the poor need. You may need to give them a ride to a job interview and maybe a few weeks till the get enough money to get their own ride.

A practice I do if someone is hungry I will buy them food. This helps weed out some of those that want money for drugs or a beer. Now some become poor thanks to debt that keeps got out of hand. I know a church that helped paid a lady's debt off and help her manage her finances. It would have done no good to have paid it off and leave her to where she could fall right back into it.

Still helping the needy bring blessings like keeping the commandments and not helping them will bring a curse on you.

Proverbs 22
7. The rich ruleth over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender.
8. He that soweth iniquity shall reap vanity: and the rod of his anger shall fail.
9. He that hath a bountiful eye shall be blessed; for he giveth of his bread to the poor.

Proverbs 28
27. He that giveth unto the poor shall not lack: but he that hideth his eyes shall have many a curse.

There is more in Matthew 6:2-4, Luke 14:12—14 & 1 Timothy 5:4-11.

Bless Israel
Genesis 12
1. Now the Lord had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will shew thee:
2. And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:
3. And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.

We are to bless Israel, the bloodline of Abram or Abraham, as most of us know him. If you stand by God’s people God will bless you. Keep in mind that in Romans 11:1-8 that god has not forsaken Israel and her people. He just have given many of them a spirit of slumber.

Usery
Nehemiah 5
3. Some also there were that said, We have mortgaged our lands, vineyards, and houses, that we might buy corn, because of the dearth.
4. There were also that said, We have borrowed money for the king's tribute, and that upon our lands and vineyards.
5. Yet now our flesh is as the flesh of our brethren, our children as their children: and, lo, we bring into bondage our sons and our daughters to be servants, and some of our daughters are brought unto bondage already: neither is it in our power to redeem them; for other men have our lands and vineyards.

Like I said earlier about a lady that a church paid her debt. It is best to avoid getting into debt as much as possible.

Romans 13
7. Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom honour.
8. Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law.

Also I said early that if a person can work but chooses not to, that person does not eat. However we are to pay a person a fair days wage for a fair days work.

Work & Wages
Leviticus 19
13. Thou shalt not defraud thy neighbour, neither rob him: the wages of him that is hired shall not abide with thee all night until the morning.

Deuteronomy 24
14. Thou shalt not oppress an hired servant that is poor and needy, whether he be of thy brethren, or of thy strangers that are in thy land within thy gates:
15. At his day thou shalt give him his hire, neither shall the sun go down upon it; for he is poor, and setteth his heart upon it: lest he cry against thee unto the Lord, and it be sin unto thee.

Jeremiah 22
13. Woe unto him that buildeth his house by unrighteousness, and his chambers by wrong; that useth his neighbour's service without wages, and giveth him not for his work;
14. That saith, I will build me a wide house and large chambers, and cutteth him out windows; and it is cieled with cedar, and painted with vermilion.
15. Shalt thou reign, because thou closest thyself in cedar? did not thy father eat and drink, and do judgment and justice, and then it was well with him?
16. He judged the cause of the poor and needy; then it was well with him: was not this to know me? saith the Lord.
17. But thine eyes and thine heart are not but for thy covetousness, and for to shed innocent blood, and for oppression, and for violence, to do it.

Malachi 3
5. And I will come near to you to judgment; and I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers, and against the adulterers, and against false swearers, and against those that oppress the hireling in his wages, the widow, and the fatherless, and that turn aside the stranger from his right, and fear not me, saith the Lord of hosts.

You need to honor your word. If you say you will pay a person so much for a job, you need to pay them for the job. If you agree to do the job for so much, then you need to do the job. If you do not do the job, you do not get paid. You will not keep payment form a person if the have done the work that was required.

Prepare of tough times
Lastly going back to the storehouse, we are to prepare for hard times.
Genesis 41
25. And Joseph said unto Pharaoh, The dream of Pharaoh is one: God hath shewed Pharaoh what he is about to do.
26. The seven good kine are seven years; and the seven good ears are seven years: the dream is one.
27. And the seven thin and ill favoured kine that came up after them are seven years; and the seven empty ears blasted with the east wind shall be seven years of famine.
28. This is the thing which I have spoken unto Pharaoh: what God is about to do he sheweth unto Pharaoh.
29. Behold, there come seven years of great plenty throughout all the land of Egypt:
30. And there shall arise after them seven years of famine; and all the plenty shall be forgotten in the land of Egypt; and the famine shall consume the land;
31. And the plenty shall not be known in the land by reason of that famine following; for it shall be very grievous.
32. And for that the dream was doubled unto Pharaoh twice; it is because the thing is established by God, and God will shortly bring it to pass.
33. Now therefore let Pharaoh look out a man discreet and wise, and set him over the land of Egypt.
34. Let Pharaoh do this, and let him appoint officers over the land, and take up the fifth part of the land of Egypt in the seven plenteous years.
35. And let them gather all the food of those good years that come, and lay up corn under the hand of Pharaoh, and let them keep food in the cities.
36. And that food shall be for store to the land against the seven years of famine, which shall be in the land of Egypt; that the land perish not through the famine.
37. And the thing was good in the eyes of Pharaoh, and in the eyes of all his servants.
38. And Pharaoh said unto his servants, Can we find such a one as this is, a man in whom the Spirit of God is?

There is so much more that I have not even touched on but I do hope this will get you started. Sorry if this post is long but there is just so much information.

Your welcome. Many people keep trying to figure out how to fix the economy and so I decide to put together what God said about managing finances.

Doesn't the promises in the Old Testament apply to the Jewish nation under that Covenant?

Which covenant are you talking about? God has made many with his people over time. However remember that Jesus said the law would not pass away until after this Earth and Heaven pass away, (Matthew 5:17-18). The God does not every change (Malachi 3:6). Jesus did create a new covenant that we can plead His blood instead of killing a lamb for our sin. He only replaces that lamb, not change the law. Last I checked God’s law of gravity still is in effect. The 10 commandments still apply today.

I believe that the New Covenant is the only one in effect now and any nation that wants to please God should become Christian and follow Christ.

The covenant deals with salvation but this thread is about how to improve the economy base on what His law says. The law/commandments and the covenant are two different things even though some people interchange the two. The law is to protect us and maintain order where the covenant deals with the salvation of the soul. We are saved by faith in Christ but our works make up our robe and part of the works is keeping the commandments.

True we should fallow Christ but I when it comes to the Israelites, I will share the love of Christ and correct them according to His law but I will keep my hands off of them. As Romans 11 says, the God has not forsaken them, just gave them a spirit of slumber. God still loves His wife. They are still His people and we Christians have been grafted in. He will decide when they are ready and wake them up. Revelation points out the Bride of Christ and the Wife of God will be there at the marriage supper.
