Like praying that God forgives the
sins of your father, brother, friend etc. I
think anybody who is an adult is supposed
to go to God directly. I see this in the
catholic church where people confess their
sins to the priest and expects him to help
them pray to God for forgiveness. Is it
right?

It just shows God you care about them. They have to pray for themselves and repent.

We as Christians can pray for anyone, however, we should go to God for ourself in repentence of our own sins.

"Confess your faults one to another,

and pray one for another,

that ye may be healed.

The effectual fervent prayer

of a righteous man availeth much."

James 5:16

when Christ was impaled and after he was stabbed by the dagger He looked up to heaven and said" Father forgive them for they do not know what they do". Implying that we can bequeath our heavenly FATHER to forgive others, showing our love for them. Always remember that our FATHER always forgives our shortcomings and transgressions, but the outcomes of our deeds are our own doings. Consequences are behooved by our choices in actions. Hope this helps

True, we are to pray for others but God will only forgive you if you are the one that ask.

Now if only humans would learn to forgive like God does. God will work with you when you have done wrong and repent. Humans just want to hold onto it and never forgive even if what you have done has nothing to do with them.
