We connect with some pretty awesome folks here on Mingle… knowing that platonic friendships can be closer and last longer than some personal relationships, we’re here also seeking out souls just to bond with as friends… and once we do, how far are we willing to go to meet in person?

I have an 80pd male dog that I can’t leave at home while I’m gone, so if I traveled to meet a new friend, I’d have to bring Hammer with me… also, if my new friend lived across the country, because of my deteriorated spinal condition, I can only drive about 8 hrs at a stretch before I’d have to stop and get a room to rest… but, I would drive my car and pay for our expenses to make the round trip…

To what extent would you go too, if you really wanted to meet and spend time with a new acquaintance?

i think the fabulous thunderbirds set the benchmark as to how far to go for a relationship
http://youtu.be/30P1JWoAjDM
I would walk ten miles on my hands and knees
Ain't no doubt about it baby it's you I aim to please
I'd wrestle with a lion and a grizzly bear
It's my life baby but I don't care

For you baby I would swim the sea
Nothing I'd do for you that's too tuff for me
I'd put out a burning building with a shovel and dirt
And not even worry about getting hurt

I'd work twenty four hours, seven days a week
Just so I could come home and kiss your cheek
I love you in the morning and I love you at noon
I love you in the night and take you to the moon

I'd lay in a pile of burning money that I've earned
and not even worry about getting burned
I'd climb the Empire State Building, fight Muhammad Ali
Just to have you baby close to me

AR,you sure know how to come up with them!!
Ha ha haaa.....
Thank you for always keeping us on our feet!
See,i dont keep many friends, but the few i keep i give my all!!
Back in July,2011,i honoured a promise of visiting a long term friend(10yrs friendship)....we had planned for a visit, every year, since 2005,but,we always left it on the shelf because of such excuses as finances, wrong time, etc, etc
but,one time, she called and said,''My dear, you are waiting till am dead so u'd come to my funeral??'' I know she wasjust nervous about a spinal code surgery and shoulder surgery that were looming, but,it jolted me into action!
I was low on finances(still,finances..ha ha ha),i asked my closest friend to come with me! We booked, packed up,and got onto the longest, most adventurous bus trip i've ever taken so far! Took us 5days to get to Pretoria-South Africa, after lots of laughter, roadside food, languages forged and 8boarders crossed......! Luckilly, our physical appearances fit into surroundings we went through-well,never mind us not speaking the languages...ha ha haaa
You have no idea how proud my host was, that i took a 5day bus trip, through the mountains of Southern Tanzania, just to visit...her sisters were jealous(well, they forget my host and i have been friends since 09.11!! The friend i travelled with was a spice to the trip-she was hilarious filling the bus with laughter, all the way to Harare-then the dry winter kicked in(we are sun children,no winter back home)! So,we dozed off all the way to the final stop over-Bosman bus terminal!!
So,i'd go to great lengths for the great friendships that i have!

I was 2500 miles from my mingle wench. After lots of chatting, mingling, phone calls and flights...I discovered it was much better to pack up my dog, my clothes, my bank account...jump into my pimp wagon...drive 5 days and just live with the girl of my dreams.

I know that very few people gotts the cajones to take the chance....I am glad I did.

I ain't never been happier.

So....I guess my answer is 2500 miles.

I ask that he meet me here in my city first meet. I have met men in person who has traveled to meet other women, as well. It is hard to find men Online who will go out of their own city to meet Any woman.

If the man lives within 2hours, I could meet him half way. I have not had a problem, with the men I do meet, even though they maynot be the "perfect" match for me, we remained friends for sometime until one got married and the others moved on dating. Online friends are Ok, but Meeting in person is the Best!!!

Since I been online, I have met men from St.Louis, Chicago, South Carolina, and New Mexico all in person traveled here. I like meeting men who will go out of their comfort zone. And, they have the money to travel to meet a woman. It works out well for me. I get to know men well online and phone, before we meet. I am a lady, who is seeking, a real relationship and that takes effort, not just out there dating any old man.laugh

I have a friend in New Zealand that I wish to visit, and it looks like I will. So i would go quite a ways.

I'm on board with krupa but like AR I also have a large dog that would have to accompany me. I would travel to meet someone and I also live near a tourist area Myrtle Beach and could meet someone here. The bottom line is if your really connecting with someone and want to meet them then hey what really is a distance for something real.

I would go wherever they were or bring them to me if they were my friend, or if we had something more. Friendship to me is the ultimate and I love traveling so that works well for me. While I have only met one person from Mingle (local) in the past from other sites I have traveled the country just to hang out.
