I was just thinking about all the places I've lived,and all of the places I've visited in my 42 years,and thought I'd ask y'all the same question. So, where have ya been?

raised in Tinley Park,IL
went into army at 17,sent to Texas (Ft. Hood) 83-85
re-upped in army, sent to Louisiana for 2 years(met SCG there) Ft. Polk 86-88
sent to Gelhausen,Germany for 2 years+ 88-90
sent to Saudi Arabia,iraq, and Kuwait for 6 months 1990
sent back to Germany for 4 months 1991
sent to Georgia for a year 91-92
came back to Illinois in '92, have bounced around the Chicago and Joliet areas for the last 15 years. Am currently living in the town of Elwood. Never heard of it? Sure you have,if you've ever seen the Blues Brothers movie. Joliet Jake and Elwood Blues. Joliet is 3 miles north of here, right Lex?

* Born in Monterey, California (Fort Ord to be more specific) in 1977

* Parents divorced in 1980 and I lived with my Mom in a small town in Kansas til 1991

* I spent every summer in a small town west of San Antonio, Texas with my grandparents - I miss those days more than anything now that they are both gone

* I lived with my Dad in Fort Worth, Texas, from age 15-28

* I lived at home that long to take care of the aforementioned grandparents until they both passed

* Now I live in Dallas, Texas with a great roommate (same age and also single)

* I've worked in food service, retail, marketing, newspapers, magazines and HR

My life actually sounds much better when it's itemized like this. Thanks for posting!

I guess that you could also call this a resume of life..
And, I forgot to mention all the cool places I've been to in my life.
Stateside, about 35 states, most of them east of the mighty Miss, except for Nevada, Calif, Oklahoma(just passed thru), Kansas (sis lived in Hutchinson for a few yrs), Alaska(army days... BRRRRRRRRRRRRR)..

I've been to France, Spain, England (6 times), Poland, Yugoslavia, Austria, Canada(our dear, too quiet neighbor to the north), Czechoslavakia, East Germany (May '90, before the wall came down), Portugal, Mexico(I know your cousin Ramon-he's here and doing well), Panama, and Grenada (last two in the army as well).

make that May 89, before the wall came down, and David Hasselhoff shook his bootie on worldwide tv..

Where have I been? I like the question ... the places of real significance are not geographic...hmmm

In a delivery room saying hello and welcome

In the depths of despair

Touched by humanity

Sickened by it too

Rolling in laughter

In tears at an art show or theatre or symphony or opera

Loved in the eyes of a child although I have none

Embraced in the hearts of strangers

In awe of nature

In Love


Where have I been? I have been here ... living ... and grateful every day.

- Been to Chicago, Illinoise
- Been through a ton of states (driving to VA, TN, and MN)
- Spent 4 months in Debary, FL in '99 and 3 weeks there in '01

Born in Frankfurt, Germany in 1957. Went to school in Karlsruhe, Germany till 1964. Went all over free Europe then went to the States where we were stationed all over America till 1975. Then hitchhiked all over America for a while. Pretty much settled in the southern states for a while since then.

ES -- Yeah, I'm very familiar with Elwood, having been through it a number of times up and down 53....it's one of a surprising number of little towns south of Joliet, although I think Symerton (pop. 106) is my favorite -- or maybe Andres (pop. too small to be recorded anywhere) --

I was in Dwight a couple weeks ago, going down 47 south, and actually saw an old Sunoco sign -- should have brought my camera, maybe I'll go back over and get a pic or two....
