Hummm in my opinion the wedding ring is soooooooooo wrong!!!
If I meet someone they had a ring on of course first thing comes mind is there married. Say then he wanted to get to know me and the next words out of his mouth is ohhh I'm not married I just wear the ring so women will leave me alone. Yeah Buddy !!! I'm gonna believe that one does not matter if it is the truth you already lied once how would that person know that your not cheating on a wife.grumble grumble grumble

Hummmmm up to you but I think it is a bad ideal....noway

Phisopher, if the women up till now that you have been dating is only out for a free meal or what material things you buy them or just wanting money from you. Even if you wore a ring they would still be there. Cause it is not you they want but what you can give or do for them.

Time to start checking your preference on the women your picking just a thought if you tend to go for more the trophy on my arm kind go for some a little more real. If that is not the case then you are just way to nice and your being taking advantage of learn to say NO on all matters of money. The ones you took to a nice restaurant before heck take them to Burger place or Taco Bueneo and see there reactions if they get tiffy about it drop them they are there for the meal not the conversation or you.

I mean you have the looks so unless your more or less figuring just because I take them out for a great meal and then you expect sex afterwards then it has to be your choice in women.

Good luckflowerforyou

"Strangers don't meet accidentally in public life at my age."

BabyDoll- I agree with you... it does happen- even at our age.

A wedding ring on a mans finger- would make me turn away and have no interest in him. That ring states to me Marriage...
and I would never even aprouch a married man.

I wish you luck in what ever you decide to do...

Funny, you should say that about a wedding ring being a deterrant. I decided to put mine on the other day and went off for the weekend to my friends about 4 hours away. I thought....its such a pretty ring, why not wear it for a couple of days????

Anyways, the moral of the story is I had more men throwing themselves at me, talking to me, flirting with me than I ever do without it!!!! Im thinking its a babe catcher not a deterrant!!!

It would seem to me that anyone approaching a man or woman with a wedding ring on, is not looking for a long term relationship. If that is what you are looking for, ditch the ring idea.
Yes, people our age (whatever that may be) do approach on the street or wherever. I dated a guy who asked me out while I was at the library. Said he thought I had a sharp mind (I check out between 12-15 books every 2 or 3 weeks), and having books in common, we would have something to talk about. Interesting guy, too bad he was 80, lol.
You need to find a new area to look. Grocery stores are a little over done. Try a local coffee shop, the library, the park, some place you want to meet someone with similar interests.

Philosopher.. I have worked in a field where I have contact with a lot of undesirable men(and women).. I have worn a simple Walmart silver ring on my finger for years (at work) for just the reasons you mention. It has always worked well for me. Good luck with what you decideflowerforyou
