Does anyone here actually understand Philip K. Dick? If so please explain. (in 100 words or less)

My understanding of him is one of a visionary with a hint of "there out to get us" personality. I've never read his books but have enjoyed film versions of his work.

His last name makes me giggle.

For his books, I've enjoyed what I've read of his. The Man in the High Castle is my favorite book of his I've read. Blade Runner is probably the best film version, though A Scanner Darkly is probably the closest adaptation.

Do you mean explain his books, or Dick himself? Because I've never met the guy.

Brief bio and summary of philosophy or view of life. Apparently he got robbed and gone off goofy afterwards?

Ooops, did he write Man in the High Castle- I gave that as an Xmas present to a friend who want some Harry Harrison books. I guess I should have actually read the cover.

Seems like a lot of these authors had sad endings to their lives.

I've never read it but you could always read Dick's bio- 'Dick, Divine Invasions: A Life of Philip K. Dick' by Lawrence Sutin.

PKD is awesome!

What are you looking for as far as an explanation? I might be able to chat about some of his works, but talking about him as a person is too broad for me. If I wanted to learn more about him, I would start with the wikipedia article on him. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philip_k_dick

So:
1. Does it mean to be human
2. What is reality and what is perception
