Sometimes you cannot... there are special IP addresses that have unique first bytes.
When you transmit a signal and it goes to the router.. usually the first byte is paid any attention... for example

110.215.1.1

110 is the first byte... and most important when the transmission is first sent.. this is the general region of the recieving...

215 is the second byte ... is similar to the city or building of the destination

1 is the third and fourth byte... building or workstation .. each point locates more specifically.

127 is a first byte that is commonly used for loop back... hard to explain

192 is another that is found all through out the country... they also have subnet masks..which I only vaguely remember from software fundamentals and operating systems class...

Point is sometimes you cannot locate by IP.

You can always find you location from any ip address ask any cop or fbi or ranger ..

Now does the public able to get that info no thats why we are the public.

ASk yourself then why does the cops know where u are at with a cell phone in the first sec u dial 911. Even if its from a gmail phone. Trust me they can do it.

Most IPs use servers located in many different geographic locations.

Finding the one you are looking for would take more computing power than you probably have.

It doesnt take that much power . Its the computer which doenst need to be that powerful and the program with the device. Good grief the cops have it in their car.

Thats not a big problem.

For this all you need is Geolite database which is available freely online. Few lines, less than 20, would give completed details of an IP.
You will get sample code for using this database with the database.

I am web developer and use this frequently in php.

Hope this helps

again wrong the very meaning of dhcp is that its dynamic meaning it will change and that tip will be different tomorrow. The MAC address is one of many things that is your geo position. not the ip. Heard of spoofing . so if u went by ip address to find me u would never find me.
