Yeah, I don't see why not. I write songs, so I know how it can help when venting. It feels like a weight being lifted off your shoulders. The horribleness of heartbreak gradually sifts away quicker when you put it into something creative. You're not harming anyone by doing so.

Better Days Ahead

The eyes are like two shining stars, to brighten any day
For those who are around you or you pass along your way
You know a life of heartache, and it often makes you sad
But even through your bad times, there was much to make you glad

Many years of life you shared, with someone you held dear
Now it's lonely holidays, not much to bring you cheer
Your lonely heart is filled with fear, of facing life anew
Instead of love and caring, that used to get you through

It's hard to leave a past behind, a life that once you knew
Yet every day's a new day now, designed for only you
So many things to think about, a new life to create
To fill with only things you like, and nothing that you hate

Memories are treasures, and some are not so grand
Those we only think about, to deal with what's at hand
Others are of special times, a pleasure to recall
Good or bad, they're yours for life, you have to count them all

If your goal is "love", these days it's not so easy to find. We live in a "throw away" world of recycle and plastic. Values have gone to hell, war is commonplace, violence the daily news.

Me, I'll take respect, caring and tolerance, something that can be built on, and let the rest be the fruits of that understanding.

Happiness doesn't come in the form of another, it comes from a desire within yourself, another can only enhance or destroy.

That is of course only my opinion.

I wish I could say I was still naive enough to believe that "love" alone can motivate couples to a closer level of intimacy and commitment, when in fact, trust and respect are much more motivating factors. I have been known to wear rose colored glasses when it comes to my view of the chaos in the world, and choose to interact with others on a free spirit loving basis. As far as personal relationships go, I fear at my age I'm a bit jaded, or maybe I'm just too stubborn to want to settle for less than I'm willing to give myself. And as long as I'm able to care for my own needs I have nothing much to complain about, as I'm thankful to be where I'm at, at this stage of my life. I really appreciate your input on this thread, Soul, you have been kind and supportive... Thank you...

Life is what we make it. True love comes from within and blossoms outward. It must go through you to know its meaning, warmth and blessings.

Love yourself despite your doubts or fears, let it flow "from" you, you will find it returned without question when it best suits you.
