Mmm as a woman, I could not have passed by
YOUR situation without at least pausing to
see if you needed aid.

I realize the query is more, did you handle
it correctly.
I am thinking if I had your balls I would
have done the same :-)

However, as I do not, I would have driven
away from him immediately.

Nope the query is should the men around me gotten involved? I say no but my friend says yes they should have. I have balls? surprised laugh

i would have... a man doesn't need to act so stupid around a woman...

Navygirl:
If I haven't said it before, you're my hero ! Score one for the little gal. Somebody was pushing you around and you stood up to them and they backed down. Well played. I do want to believe that all those guys in the cars were just empowering you to be the brave woman you are & triumph over adversity, all the while monitoring the situation and deciding that if it escalated to something worse than him backing down when you yelled at him, they were gonna get your back.

Aww thanks. I have never like bullies personally. I can understand why the guys didn't want to get involved as the world is a scary place and one never knows what can happen. I guess I will never know what the guys in the car thought but at least I had witnesses to the event if things did escalate. Its my friend that was upset that no one came to my rescue so to speak. I shrugged it off but he was and is still mad.

Thanks Mightymoe. I just figured the guys didn't want to get involved in this situation and I respect them for their decison. I bear no grudges other than the fool that beat on my car. laugh

Just be careful, you can never tell what a road rage person will do.

Thanks. I can size up a situation pretty quick actually and I always stay self aware.

This is the 21 century and women a supposed to be equal. Right? Women don't need to be rescued anymore. But, that's not why I wouldn't have gotten involved.

If I get involved in something like this I'd be opening myself up to being arrested and possibly a law suit. So, dialing 911 is all I'm going to do.

I quite agree that I didn't need to be rescued as honestly I am probably better trained to defend myself than the average guy but my male friend thought otherwise. Its a good point about the lawsuits but generally when comes to self defense; these cases are rare as long you are not using excessive force.

There was one night I was coming home late when this Cholo decided to do figure 8s in the intersection on a bicycle. I hit my horn and he dropped his bike in the middle of the intersection and called me out of my car. Well, I obliged him and came out of my car with a tire iron in my hand. I chased his azz for about a half a block when I decided he was not going to stick around for his beating. I grabbed his abandoned bike and tossed it in a yard with a really pissed off pair of dogs in it and got back to my car and left. The people sitting at the bus stop near by applauded me as I tossed his bike and left. Wannabe gangster had no balls.

If you are going to confront people do so armed! You have no idea if they are going to pull a knife or gun. At least you stand a chance if the guy is psyched out on drugs and got that crazy Adrenalin strength boost going on!

Well; its very unlikely that the average person here will be toting a gun and I know how to disarm a person with a knife; however perhaps a tire iron might be a good idea if this happens again. bigsmile
I guess I'm not average then.

You are also not a Canadian. I should have said the average Canadian does not carry a gun with him. slaphead

Unless you live in Bear country! Then the Canuks carry guns! Canadians don't like to feed the bears either!

Not a whole lot of bears in the city; but we have the odd moose and deer running down out roadways.

I don't carry or own a gun, but I have a knife in my pocket and an ax in my car.

He He. I always have a pocket knife with me but its one of those swiss army gadgets so I doubt that will do much harm. Besides; given the choice; I would rather not injure anyone but I will defend myself.

TexasScoundrel, so what if the man had started attacking the woman? would you refrain from doing the right thing because of your fear of a law suit or being arrested? Don't you have any faith in the system?

navygirl,

I admire your male friend for his heroic intentions, but not all men are cut out to be heros or protectors. Some would probably just get hurt.

I don't think a man should rescue someone just because they are a woman, but because they are capable enough to do so, and because that someone needs help.

The idea that a man should come to the rescue of a woman is a bit sexist. A true knight should protect those who can not protect themselves.

But not all men are cut out to be knights.

(Chivalry)
The Knight's Code of Chivalry was a moral system that stated all knights should protect others who can not protect themselves, such as widows, children, and elders. All knights needed to have the strength and skills to fight wars in the Middle Ages. Knights not only had to be strong but they were also extremely disciplined and were expected to use their power to protect the weak and defenseless.

I stand by my statement. I was actually arrested once for defending a woman in the tattoo shop I owned. I spent the night in jail and over $2000 in lawyer fees. Ended up with a year of probation and an criminal record.

NEVER AGAIN!
