Letter from Chinese Laborer Pleading for Help Found in Halloween Decorations

The letter describes the conditions at the factory: "People who work here have to work 15 hours a day without Saturday, Sunday break and any holidays. Otherwise, they will suffer torturement, beat and rude remark. Nearly no payment (10 yuan/1 month)." That translates to about $1.61 a month.

The letter was found inside this packagingKeith, a mom who works at the Goodwill in Portland, Oregon, did some research into the letter. "I looked up this labor camp on the internet. Some horrific images popped up, and there were also testimonials about people who had lived through this camp. It was just awful.

And people gripe about work conditions here?

Yup, and if some folks have their way, American workers will be worse off than the Chinese who write these letters.

There are folks here that will sit on welfare and snub their noses at minimum wage.

Then, there are others who would have us at the mercy of Gobament like the Chinese are.

My bullchit meter just went off at this so-called story.

Here is why. That note seems to be very well written in English. This is China you are talking about.

Now I have here a small electronic recording device that was obviously made in China and the operating manual that came with the device is written or translated into English so poorly I can't make heads or tails of how to operate this device.

If some worker in China is Chinese, and can write English that well, he would probably be working at a higher paying job because obviously there are not very many Chinese people who can translate to English.

The only other option is that they have kidnapped some English people and are working them in slave labor camps in China.

My Cousin married a very attractive Chinese young lady and she was a teacher in China where he lived for 7 years. She speaks very good English. Many people in China do have good positions and are paid very good salaries. While over here now there is no jobs and the cridentials for teachers are very different than China.
