Topic: A friendly reminder... | |
---|---|
When you're out shopping and dining this holiday season, remember to have some patience and say thank you to those who are working to serve you! They're doing their best to make your experience a good one.

I always do anyway...regardless of the season.
ummmm...i'm not about to be rude to the person who serves me food & beverage. I just may get more than i paid for. ;-) |

Sadly, many people are rude to restaurant staff and people who work in retail. Good to know you're not, Kahurangi!

unless they're *****.
in that case be a *****. |

Make sure you carry your concealed weapon too. Nowadays, sadly, it seems like you might use it.

Yeah, and I might have to buy a gun, so I yearn for those days.

Sadly, many people are rude to restaurant staff and people who work in retail. Good to know you're not, Kahurangi! I tend to strike up a convo with those who serve me that look as if they've had enough of serving people for the day. It doesn't take much effort to get them smiling and laughing about stuff, and i'd like to think that little gestures like that could make a difference to their otherwise crap day. |

I treat 'em nice, especially on Christmas day and leave a big tip as they are working that day. What to do about the doctors and nurses working I don't know. |

There may be some that are a little surly or sombre during the festive season, but most are quite happy getting into the buzz of taking care of their patients in hospitals, and making whatever ails them to be that little bit easier to deal with. Hospitals and the staff that work within them are quite the tight community....and particularly so at Xmas time. Isn't that why they chose their profession...or in some cases, the profession chose them? From what i've seen anyhoo.... |

Sadly, many people are rude to restaurant staff and people who work in retail. Good to know you're not, Kahurangi! No way would I be rude to anyone serving my food or preparing it here, it is nothing for your cook to spit on your food or wipe it on his butt for fun, just to make them smile when you are complaining. so i am always on my very best behaviour, i only want to eat what i pay for, no extras needed. Payback is the Aussie way. But always with a laugh. |

When we came back from Jamaica last night, I said to the Customs officer "Thank you and have a good night, sir". It caught him so off guard that he actually sat there with his mouth open for like ten seconds before replied "And you too....thank you for saying that!!"
It took two seconds and eight words to make someone feel good....I think we can all handle that. |

You are so right and thank you for this thread. You would be surprised in the restaurant biz how many people get all worked up and just go off on the employees. Just relax, register you complaint we will take care of it and if we don't do a good job never come back. Kindness we'll always get you more extra attention.Plus it makes you a nice person.

That kind of thing likely does make a big difference. I am never rude to a server in a restaurant as I had the experience of serving a 4 course military dinner for 110 and only 8 of us serving. I was run off my feet and now appreciate what a server goes through. |
