It appears to me that, in complaining about Jamie Foxx's SNL commentary, someone is making a mountain out of a mole hill.

I don't expect that many Republicans will be making a fuss over anything that Foxx has said about the current President of the USA. Extremists in the Republican Party may make a fuss, but ordinary Republicans are too busy having lives, and Foxx doesn't even appear on their social radar.

It appears to me that, in defending Jamie Foxx's commentary, someone is making a mountain into a molehill.

This has nothing to do with a Republican Party.
So you couldn't be more out of bounds.

The title Jamie toyed with is a Precious One, in case there are any conscientious Christians reading this thread.

Jamie Fox so called obsession pales in comparison to the millions of posts iv read even more so after reelection. So obsessed that some want to secede from the union. One guy has posted an Obama post for years, all anti of course. No one is more obsessed with him more then right wingers, conservatives, republicans and the racist crackpots who are just spitefull that all their attempts to hamstring his reelection failed. And of course Trump, Obamas biggest fan.laugh

There are plenty of people who don't affiliate themselves with any party
who indeed have serious apprehensions
about the present commander-in-chief... (a man with a checkered past)

....people who refuse to worship a mere man... while many here do.

So the above quote is also out of bounds.

i agree with you, the whole point of it is he's talking about killing white people... joke or not, what has this have to do with republicans? has it come to the point where killing white people is the main joke of the day? believe it or not, there many case where a young black or latino has killed a white person just because they are white, as a gang initiation. but people seem to think this is ok to joke about? get real people, there should be no one talking about killing anyone outside of movies, joking or not...

This thread clearly is about a man supposably obsessed with Obama. I think admiration is not worshiping nor obsessive. To those who dislike the President are the ones who deem it obsessive. Trump was obsessed, but he was not deemed that way because he was feeding them crap they enjoyed eating for the sake of their dislike as well. As for those here that you say worship him is pure nonsence. There has been more anti Obama obsession then pro Obama. Its only out of bounds when one dislikes support of Obama. Besides whats so pertinant about a actor admiring the president?

Frankly I think its quite clear he was refering to his character killing slave entrepenuers. That only bother the paranoid.

He was obviously refering to his charactor who was killing slave entrepanuers. Im not offended at all. White cops kill unarmed people all the time, no one blinks a eye. This guy speaks of his character and paranoids scream bloody hell.

\\

a white guy wrote the movie

same guy wrote a movie about a woman killing lots of men

when things arent the 'norm' and they have an impact, they are considered 'great'

some people still think that great always deems something a compliment though,,,,

GREAT: remarkable in magnitude, degree, or effectiveness

perhaps he would have been more pc to use the term remarkable,,,for it is remarkable in a movie for the lead protaganist to be a black man fighting off white men,,, especially during a slave period movie,,,

I did not notice anyone "defending Jamie Foxx's commentary. Maybe I did not read carefully enough.

But personally, I will always defend his right to free expression.

and Yours too.

The reason Christians are offended is because of their belief in their own savior and they don't want anyone else being called a "savior."

The truth is, one is a religious belief, and the other is comedy.

Be offended if it makes you feel better.

Or laugh, if it makes you feel better.

But freedom of expression,(and humor)and freedom of religion should always be protected.

Once you give up freedom of expression and humor, the next thing to go will be your freedom of religion and your right to express that you are offended.

Freedom is paramount.

Do you even understand the genre of SNL? Guests of that show routinely pretend to be extreme caricatures of some TV/movie characters that they have portrayed, which appears to be what Jamie Foxx did. Foxx was in character when he said what he said. That is why I refuse to take his words out of context.

maybe we let humans be humans (imperfect) and give them credit when its due just as quickly as we are willing to to chastise them when (we feel) its due

tarrentino is a brilliant director, I dont know many movies set in slave era where the slave wins against the slaveowners (who have abducted his wife),,,nor many movies where a lone female kicks the behind of thousands (to avenge her family's death)

so, yeah, the movies premise is actually pretty great,, albeit violent, per the usual for tarrantino

Comedians are the last visage remaining of freedom of speech and some people just don't like that. Political and Religious topics in particular.

I never said what can and cannot be said in this thread.
Don't be so paranoid and so quick to jump to conclusion.

dodo, you need to examine your own outbursts.

You claimed that certain statements are out of bounds, as if it were wrong for those statements to be made. To me, such a claim appears to be an outburst.

I simply don't have ruffled feathers because of something that Jamie Foxx said on SNL.

Jeanniebean was correct when she said, "Comedians are the last visage remaining of freedom of speech and some people just don't like that. Political and Religious topics in particular."
