1. You have accept your LTR is over, cause the feeling that you are cheating will limit you
2. Make sure you are not motivated by anger or revenge
3. Trust the person, until they prove they are not trustworthy
4. Remember they are not your ex: they are not all whores/gold-diggers and/or dogs
5. Other stuff I have forgotten

I waited 4 years after a divorce to even think
about seeing anyone.

I wanted to be..accepting, have an open heart, give
someone a real shot, just in case, early on, it might
turn into something more lasting.

If I were you, I would do what you are doing, look
around on social sites, get your 'sea' legs back
when it comes to the opposite sex.

New experiences can eradicate any leftover angst
of the past.

Thank you for the advice.(If you don't mind me asking) Were you married for a long time?

First one was 27 years.
Second one was 2 1/2 years.

2 1/2 years into my Mingle relationship :-)

give up and buy a kitten or a puppy

I did what u are talking about twice - started dating after a long marriage and later again after a LTR that I had after my marriage

disassterous so far
Ima committed singleton

warning warning will robinson - the guys don't change much from the teenage years - they tend to misrepresent their intentions to get in your pants and then gossip about you like school boys - the double standards still exists - they call you a slut if you sleep with them and a ho if you won't - they complain about you making them wait for sex but then ditch you after one night if you don't play the make 'em wait game. so it's their own fault that we make them wait

I love you guys but it is what it is

being married or in an LTR will make you temporarily forget about these male foibles and you will think you are dealing honestly on the first few dates as a newly singlton - I REPEAT - that is a mistake...review the high school rules and all your mama warned you about the boys - as they have not outgrown these things

.....then go have fun...'cos gosh we do love the buggerslove laugh

I'd say take the same advice I gave the OP and just flip male for female. I am not a man so I can't say for certain, but my guess is the newly single tend to interpret signs of interest as their next relationship a little too quickly. So be careful and go slow as u are vulnerable nowflowerforyou

I was separated for a year (it was right at a year when the divorce was finalized). She had already shacked up with the dude she cheated on me with. I wasn't angry at her (back then) cause I kept focusing more on blaming myself for the marriage failing. I'm so glad I didn't date during that time nor did I even try to date for around six months after the divorce was final. I was a mess and wasn't ready for it. I dated my ex wife for six years before we married, and our marriage lasted for nine. At the time of our divorce, I had spent half of my life with her, so entering the dating world was a scary thought. Dating is still scary, lol, but I know I can handle it. I look back and realize that she was my past, and (for the most part) it was all good. I've realized that I was in love with her, but that was then. For the future? Who knows what will happen. I may or may not fall in love again. I'm just enjoying the journey, even with all the ups and downs that go with it.
