Hey people!!
I hope you are having a wonderful day! Hey I think that Mingle 2 is a great way to find people:) I also want to share with you to be careful though. All dating sites have this problem..so lets not single anyone out here. Don't fault the business when it's the one person that ruins the experience! Catch my drift. I believe I have just snuffed out an "EMERGENCY SCAM" that was attempted on me. I met someone who claimed they were from Hollywood , California. Everything good right? Well this person(who ever they are) said that they were visiting their sick mom in Nigeria. Well everything was good until a few red flags # 1. Starts loving you from the start! #2. Says they bring cash and doesn't have a credit card to a 3rd world country! #3.Either they or someone they know has a medical emergency( like cancer or brain tumor...you get the idea) #4 you are the only one that can help them! # 5. They ask you to wire them money versus using credit card or some other means of payment. #6. And basic common sense, like no details for everything( don't get me wrong..they will have fake ids and papers and they use other people's photos...often times from modeling agencies) and last but not least #7. I should have put this first! They try and get you off the dating site right away! And try and get you on a IM or other email address. What ever you do...don't give them money!!! And if you think this could NEVER happen to YOU. This is a 15 BILLION dollar business!! I just though you should know. So have a happy dating philosophy!! and keep chatting on Mingle2 as long as you can....And I am sure Mingle2 will tell you this...Report anyone you feel is suspicious. Take care! NMTM

I normaly start asking her about her mother. And when they say that her mother is the one that is sick. I tell them thats ok. I am willing to date sick women.
Then. For some reason, I never hear back from them.

That is very true, any person you meet, online that come up with one story about mother or father being sick, telling you to do business with him or her is a scam.

happy In this day and age of on-line dating you should be on guard for fakes, scam artist, and users. That is why I do check to see how many dating sites the username is listed on along with tracking IP address. Usually after I tell them I do this, I don't hear back from them. waving

Starts loving you from the start! ALARM BELLS!!! & HUUUGE turn off... EWWWWW... I wouldnt reply & or block. Some people (minority) will take advantage of those whom are decent & genuine, looking for t@ special someone. Be aware I guess, common sense & gut instinct.

Seems there has been a lot of these lately.
Most of the ones I get are in their early or mid twenties, and are some variant of the other schemes.
Have to hand it to them, though. They are getting more sophisticated with their methods. They aren't jumping to the unrequited love mode quite as fast as they used.
However, it is becoming more difficult to separate the wheat from the chaffe.

I think everyone has to use common sense when they meet people on line.

People, even those on line, have hard times sometimes deaths, illness, and various woes but the difference in being good people and scammers is Good people realize that hard times are not and excuse to get over on those who are trying to be a friend.

What is a little tough is if you have a difficult lot in life is sometimes people don't get that sometimes the most helpful thing is NOT to pull away and assume that they are being scammed or run up and do something more than you feel comfortable doing and resent it later but just be a friend and listen.

Most people, especially adults want to work out their own problems, live in spite of being also disabled with out being rejected , or have someone fix things and take their dignity away just because the circumstances of their life have gotten in a slump and need some one to give them time to work things out. Love is not always instant. Life isn't always pretty. But a good heart is worth giving some time to see how it checks out.

Someone who likes you as you are and grows with you is so way better than trying to mold you or "fix" you up to what they want.

yup it happens - one reason I usually message from forums only. There may be the occasional exception and it's not foolproof but in the forums u at least get an idea about a person

I guess I am man enough to say it has happen to me once before on another site, but I caught it in the first private email when the story changed right off the get go. Knowing how to track ip address and knowing how to track usernames it will not happen again.

You have to be yourself and go with your gut. I've been here a month now and like my virus software I am always on the watch for the signs.

Keep Mingling, Have Fun, Keep Smiling
