I'm kind of scared to put a pic with my profile. Is that normal. Write me to talk

On a site like this, to have any luck, you'll have to put up pictures. If you're just here to chat, rather than meet people, it won't be a big deal. But, if you're here to actually meet people, you'll have to be upfront about what you look like.

I believe that would be at least one standard deviation from normal

If it is that scary to you, then this is not the place to be.

It's completely natural to not be 100% comfortable with posting a pic of yourself in your profile. If you click with someone, there's always ways to show just that one person what you look like.

As far as pics in general, you could post a pic or 2 of things that interest you/big part of your life. If you like a certain band, you could show a pic of that band's album cover/art. Into video games? Show pic of your favorite. Like to hike? Show a scenic view of your favorite trail.

I myself created my own number crunching forum fantasy mmorpg where you explore and battle through elemental realms. I use a program called virtualscape to create visual representations of battlefields/shops/portals/towns/ect, and the island tower in my profile is an example of that.

Showing pictures of what you're interested in really doesn't do much on a site like this. And if you don't show pictures of yourself, people will wonder what you're hiding from. But again, it really only matters if you're planning on meeting anyone. If you're not, then the picture, or lack of picture is no big deal.

I agree with this.
