Topic: Gore Ties Sandy to Climate Crisis | |
---|---|
Former Vice President Al Gore warned in a blog post today that Hurricane Sandy is a "disturbing sign of things to come" if the world doesn't quit "dirty energy." At 1:21 p.m. ET, with large swaths of the Northeast still swimming in the storm's mess, the Current TV founder and environmental activist published a statement asking the public to "heed this warning and act quickly to solve the climate crisis." CLICK for Hurricane Sandy Live Blog Updates "Sandy was also affected by other symptoms of the climate crisis," Gore wrote. "As the hurricane approached the East Coast, it gathered strength from abnormally warm coastal waters. At the same time, Sandy's storm surge was worsened by a century of sea level rise. Scientists tell us that if we do not reduce our emissions, these problems will only grow worse." Gore isn't the only politician tying Sandy's wrath to global climate change. "What's clear is that the storms that we've experienced in the last year or so around this country and around the world are much more severe than before," New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg said at a briefing today. "Whether that's global warming or what, I don't know. But we'll have to address those issues." N.Y. Gov. Andrew Cuomo, an early favorite in the 2016 Democratic presidential primary, expressed similar concerns, quipping that New Yorkers "have a 100-year flood every two years now." Cuomo also suggested the state could look into the construction of levees to prevent future flooding. "It is something we're going to have to start thinking about," Cuomo told reporters. "The construction of this city did not anticipate these kinds of situations. We are only a few feet above sea level." Gore made some headlines after the first presidential debate when he blamed President Obama's muted performance on a different kind of change in the climate. "I'm going to say something controversial here," he said to his Current TV roundtable-mates. "Obama arrived in Denver at 2 p.m. today - just a few hours before the debate started. Romney did his debate prep in Denver. When you go to 5,000 feet, and you only have a few hours to adjust - I don't know…" |

Looks like ya'll don't like Al Gore but bottom line, this climate is changing.
He is right. |

Looks like ya'll don't like Al Gore but bottom line, this climate is changing. He is right. And it has been changing since the beginning of time. Even before man inhibited the earth. |

Looks like ya'll don't like Al Gore but bottom line, this climate is changing. He is right. And it has been changing since the beginning of time. Even before man inhibited the earth. But he thinks humans are to blame and that his agenda can change anything. bua ha hha ha hah! |

I understand that has been disproven, but I do know that there is a lot of disagreement about this. Hair spray is not going to effect the weather. However, the earth IS GOING THROUGH SOME SERIOUS CHANGES. And it is not about humans. So are the rest of the planets in this solar system. And humans don't live on them!! They are all going through changes and global warming. |

Are you saying people have no affect on climate? What have you been smoking? 97% of scientists say man made climate change is real. What kind of scientists? How much impact on climate do they say that mankind has? Earlier this year, climatologist John Christy gave a testimony to the U.S. Senate. Here is an excerpt of his testimony: A project which seeks to generate consistent and systematic weather maps back to 1871 (20thCentury Reanalyisis Project, http://www.esrl.noaa.gov/psd/data/20thC_Rean/) has taken a look at the three major indices which are often related to extreme events.
As Dr. Gill Campo of the University of Colorado, leader of the study, noted to the Wall Street Journal (10 Feb 2011) “… we were surprised that none of the three major indices of climate variability that we used show a trend of increased circulation going back to 1871.” (The three indices were the Pacific Walker Circulation, the North Atlantic Oscillation and the Pacific-North America Oscillation, Compo et al. 2011.) In other words, there appears to be no supporting evidence over this period that human factors have influenced the major circulation patterns which drive the larger-scale extreme events. Again we point to natural, unforced variability (i.e. Mother Nature) as the dominant feature of events that have transpired in the past 130 years. Quote Source |

Actually, it is over 97% now. Even the hard core skeptics have largely been convinced due to the overwhelming physical evidence. Global warming has proceeded to accelerate three times faster than predicted. And Do do, we had a discussion about this recently where you tried to use local weather events to prove global patterns which would indicate you do not understand the science. Al Gore is a buffoon who is just trying to use global warming to up his air time, but in this case he is correct. Anyone notice the all time droughts last year? The massive flooding? The record temps year after year for the past recent years? The American Petroleum Institute funded a massive disinformation program that apparently is still working to cast doubt on global warming. |
