Being single is fun for the first twenty or so years, after a while though, it starts to get to where you look back fondly onto your past horrible relationships and think "that sucked, but it was still better than this." I am 52, never married, and still enjoy being single. I just see no advantage of being in a relationship. Too much work and personally I have way too many things to do that I can't afford to waste my energy playing mind games with supposedly grown men.

I prefer contract bridge, then you get to have your "significant other" be your partner!

When you had someone really great but it didnt work out between you, you get really lonely when you remember the great times you spent together. Humans are social animals and being single isnt really healthy... I don't see why it isn't healthy. I think it would be much less healthy to date someone you're not a good match for simply because you don't want to be single.

Being single sucks, I would love to with someone so I could treat them with respect, honesty, and share my life with them! The "single sucks" people make it sound like they're more into the idea of being with someone than anything else. It's absolutely possible to enjoy life while being single. I'm not sure I'd even start dating someone who was so into the "single sucks" mentality.

I didn't mean you could'nt have a great life being single it makes you grow as aperson and makes you focus on enjoying the small things in life. Being with the wrong person would be so much worse.However when your with the right person its so much better and rewarding.

Yeah maybe we WERE made to be "social animals", but really, what does that matter? I can still go talk to others around me. I don't need just one to chat with.

What more could I possibly want?
