Topic: Will Unemployment Extensions EVER run out for

the CHRONICALLY unemployed?

I read a lot of other forums and I find, the Liberal consensus seem to be they never will and they will take full advantage.

Where is the incentive to get those who have been retired on unemployment back to really looking for work?

My Mama told me once, and she was speaking to me. If I wanted a job, they are out there. Why was I sitting on my a$$ during the weekend instead of out hustling for a job?

Again? Where is the push to get them back out there?

Simple; cut of the extensions. We don't have extensions here for unemployment unless there is an extreme circumstance like the jobs offered are less than what unemployment is paying.Unemployment pays crappy here as it is no longer 70% of your pay. The did a flat rate of $1600.00 a month and no one can live off that here.

I do. One has to down size to bare necessities only and I have two dogs. Times are tough but it's better than living on the street. You do what you have to do. Oh, and I have never received unemployment or welfare.

Yep; whe I lost my job; I had to cut back on things big time. Even now having a low paying job; I still cut back on things; even meals. I usually skip supper 3 to 5 times a week; keep the heat on the lowest setting, go to second hand stores for clothing, and bike to work to save on gas. Hopefully after next week; I will have a better paying job.

Good luck!

Wal-Mart is hiring.

I know , I applied

ever notice how they have forty registers and five cashiers?

,,,any other suggestions?

The work schedules of Walmart employees are made two weeks in advance, based on a business forecast that is supposed to predict how many employees are needed at any particular time of any particular day. If the forecast is accurate, then there will be enough employees to handle the number of customers. However, if an unforeseen event causes customers to suddenly flock to a Walmart store, then there will be a short-term shortage of employees. Sometimes, a shortage of workers will be the result of employees quitting suddenly or calling in sick. I was involved in such situations plenty of times when I was a Walmart employee.

They must make enough to live on.
They employ millions.

As long as there are long term extensions there is no incentive to get out there and be a productive member.

The hotel/motel industry is always hiring.

Just because they employ a lot of people doesn't mean everyone is making enough to live on. I know around here, minimum wage isn't enough to live on. So, it really depends on how much they pay. That's what's tough when looking for a job.. finding something that will pay enough for someone to actually live on. Sure, there are lots of jobs out there, but many don't pay well enough.

Pay well enough for what? Cell phones, Dish TV, fast foods, new cars, HD tv's, new clothes, golds gym, bottled water, $5 energy drinks, smokes, beer, tattoos and on. You have to learn to live on what you make and do without what you don't need. Low pay is better than no pay.

Alleoops.
Notice something not quite right?
The libs who would welcome Socialism want to hold onto those things and services capitalism supplies.
They hate the wealthy but make monthly payments to them and buy their stuff.

When I say pay enough to live on, I'm talking about rent, food, gas, electricity and things like that. You may live in an area where minimum wage can cover your expenses. If you can live on that, awesome for you. Most cannot.

It's a huge company, so of course they're going to employ tons of people. Again, that does not mean they're all making enough to live on.

lets explore a minimal budget

450 for a 1bdroom apartment , enough for a parent and child
500 for childcare days so parent can work
150 for car fuel
50 for car insurance
250 for food
150 gas and electric
50 phone

expenses = 1550 per month

working 160 hrs per month (full time)

= 9.68 hr AFTER TAXES

or approximately (20 percent taxes withheld)

means 9.68= 80%x

x=11.61 per hour working full time and living in a one bedroom with JUST Enough to get only to day care and work for the month, and feed two on 60 a week

doesnt count toiletries, clothes or other possible expenses

what rate does walmart pay? oh wait, there are exactly 2 openings in the las vegas area , both for skilled managerial,,,

really? so why not just work 8 hours for 2 dollars?

low pay can be very close to no pay when you factor in what going to work costs you,,,

And that's only if you live in a place with cheap rent and cheap car insurance! Hell, minimum wage around here is only $7.25, too.

Yea, Texas is a very conservative state. No Union or labor Organizations here to limit a source of jobs or stiffle growth.
BTW, I raised my children when I started out at minimum wage. I don't just believe, I know it can be done.

If I were to work at a minimum wage job full time, the pay would just barely cover rent. That leaves pretty much nothing for other expenses.

that was then, this is now

did you raise them alone? who kept them when you worked?

it can be done with 'support' from somewhere,, everyone needs it but not everyone has it
