Topic: I knew my memory wasn't that bad... | |

After tonight's debate, Anderson Cooper was the first member of the CNN post debate group to question whether or not Romney really got the Libya issue wrong. They then brought Crowley on and after all the damage she had done during the debate, she finally admitted that Romney was "right". I didn't think that he had ever uttered the word terrorism that soon. So what does this say about our illustrious POTUS? |

No acts of terror will ever shake the resolve of this great nation, alter that character, or eclipse the light of the values that we stand for. Today we mourn four more Americans who represent the very best of the United States of America. We will not waver in our commitment to see that justice is done for this terrible act. And make no mistake, justice will be done.

it says he stuck to his resolve that we wont let acts of terror weaken us,,,
damage done,,,,commentator will quibble over specific verbiage until the cows come home he was speaking specifically towards the Libya events and he clarified that terrorism wont weaken us that he did not use others CHOSEN words 'this was a terrorist act', is beside the point |

it seems like both sides are listening until something is said that they have a prior issue with. they go on attack mode. it would be nicer if each side would give short, clear answers to the questions asked. it seems both sides would rather focus on pointing fingers and repeating the mudslinging that has been going on
imho, selective hearing happens to all of us. people tend to stop listening when one of their "buzz" words is heard. the speaker is not fully understood, because anything else said, will not be factored in because the focus is on the "buzz" word(s). some people are able to control themselves, but the "buzz" word lingers in the back of their mind even here on these forums, people read up to a word that strikes a nerve and then post about what they think was trying to be said. reading comprehension, sentence structure, and even vocabulary can be very different between two minglers. i guarantee i guarantee that there are some people who regularly post on mingle who like confrontation (bulldog double guarantee - patent pending) |

Saved the 47% for last.
Well this debate was more entertaining than the last but it still did not satisfy somehow. Romney did not explain exactly how he was going to come up with the what are we up to now 8 or 9 trillion dollars that his tax policy is expected to lose in revenue on top of the existing deficit. Obama failed to explain how his policies are really going to improve our economic situation dramatically from where we are today. Like the headlines said: "Obama wins the second debate, too bad it was not the one that mattered." I don't think any of these debates so far have changed a significant number of minds and tilted the race one way or the other. It is still about the economy and who can demonstrate clearly the better plan for the future of America and Obama still has a crushing upper hand in the electoral college tally. It is still a hard uphill road for Romney.... Here's what we are looking at....This electoral map: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/special/politics/election-map-2012/embed-map/ Since we last analyzed the national map in July, and despite the fact that Romney has picked his vice president and both parties have held their nominating conventions, there’s been no polling data or spending decisions compelling enough to move any state from its current rating of toss-up, lean Obama or lean Romney. That means that Obama can count on 196 solid electoral votes and another 41 — in New Mexico, Pennsylvania and Michigan — that lean his way for a total of 237. Romney has 170 solid electoral votes and 36 — Arizona, Missouri and North Carolina — leaning his way for a total of 206. Among the states, then, that seem unlikely to move either way over the next 55 days, Obama starts with a 31-electoral-vote edge. But it’s in the eight states we rate as toss-ups where the incumbent’s current advantage makes itself clearer. Relying solely on the Real Clear Politics poll of polls in each state — the most reliable apples-to-apples comparison we know of — there are seven swing states (Nevada, Colorado, Iowa, Wisconsin, Ohio, Florida and New Hampshire) where Obama currently leads and one (Virginia) where Romney holds the lead. Going by those polls, Obama would take 82 of a possible 95 swing-state votes and win reelection with 319 electoral votes. Remove states where either candidate leads by a single point or less — that’s Iowa (Obama + 0.2) and Virginia (Romney + 0.8) — and Obama takes 76 of the swing-state electoral votes, giving him 313 — and a second term. http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/the-fix/wp/2012/09/12/president-obamas-electoral-college-edge/ It is all in the MATH. |
