,,,we sure seem to have alot of homeless people holding up signs for work,, and a whole lot of other non homeless people passing them by everyday in disgust....not to mention a mere 50 probably would go towards a priority of FOOOD before shelter, which costs considerably more and usually requires a credit history, work record, and bank account,,,

Having previously been an employee an a homeless shelter, I have experience working with homeless people on a daily basis.

During that time, I learned something important. Those people holding signs on street corners don't necessarily want to do any actual work. Plenty of them are hoping to be given enough money so that they can go out and purchase something other than food.

Homeless shelters tend to have programs that help homeless people obtain employment. The one that I worked for did. One time, a woman from another state arrived in the city by bus. She had no job, no home, and the only money that she had was what she carried on her. She ended up staying in my shelter, during which time she asked for assistance getting back on her feet financially by obtaining a local job.

In order to obtain what she wanted, the woman had to follow the shelter's rules, which she did. The result was that she eventually obtained employment.

Plenty of men staying in the shelter did the same thing. They followed the shelter's rules and benefited as a result.

At the same time, there were plenty of men who didn't want to follow the rules, and so they remained unemployed. Other men didn't want to follow the basic rules in order to stay in the shelter overnight. They preferred to sleep outside so that they wouldn't have to follow the rules. All that they did at the shelter was obtain a lunchtime meal. Only during the winter when it became too cold to be outside did they sleep in the shelter, and most of them slept on mats placed just inside the shelter's lobby.

In summary, those people holding up signs on street corners aren't always what they appear to be. Some are sincere in what they are doing. Others are not.

Non-homeless are not passing by in disgust. They simply know that a monetary handout will possibly be an act of enabling.

if only all these logical republicans were really going out and offering jobs for these homeless people to earn enough to eat,, let alone have a home,,

that would be a nice reality,,,

Republican business owners and managers want to offer jobs, which is part of the point of the OP.

If you want to eradicate hunger, then you don't just give a man a fish that has been taken from another person, which is what the little girl in the OP wanted to do. Instead, you enable that man to catch his own fish by providing him with an employment opportunity.

understood, nothing is Neccesarily always true

the OP still misses the mark by implying things are so simple,,,,

Well things remained simple I suppose as to make it brief. It's a simple concept really. One side believes things should be taken away from the haves and given to the have-nots in order to make things more equal. The other side believes you should work for what you get.

It's a simple concept really. You're trying to make it more complex than it actually is by reading too much into it.

its not simple at all

'work' is a word that has been misapplied to make some worthy and others not

its EMPLOYMENT that enables people to be able to 'get'

and EMPLOYMENT isnt so simple at all

work comes in all forms, contributions come in all forms, but MONEY doesnt go to everyone who works or contributes, nor do all those who have money contribute or work

or, by the notion that she should be underpaid for work and then give aLL of it to someone else

many 'liberals' children go out and earn money everyday that they give partially to charity

or they donate their time putting in 'work' for free for those without the fifty bucks to gloat about,,

Yeah. That was featured in my thread about the politics of giving.
