GARDNER, Mass. (AP) — A Massachusetts woman says her cat went to the veterinarian for a flea bath but was mistakenly put to death.

Colleen Conlon of Gardner is grieving the loss of 8-year-old Lady, which she attributes to negligence by the vet, Muhammad Malik. Malik's lawyer says people should wait until all the facts come out before passing judgment.

Conlon's 24-year-old son, Jesse, took Lady to the Broadway Animal Hospital last week and unknowingly authorized the cat to be put to sleep after he says he was handed the wrong forms. He says he learned of the mix-up when he returned with a second cat and the vet asked whether he wanted to keep the body.

In all fairness, the son is 24 and can't read? Maybe, he shouldn't be driving either.

A common parasite that can lurk in the cat litter box may cause undetected brain changes in women that make them more prone to suicide, according to an international study.

Scientists have long known that pregnant women infected with the toxoplasma gondii parasite -- spread through cat feces, undercooked meat or unwashed vegetables -- could risk still birth or brain damage if transmitted to an unborn infant.

But a new study of more than 45,000 women in Denmark shows changes in their own brains after being infected by the common parasite.

Must have been gubment run or subsidized!

I think the vet office should be held accountable, then again, when given the wrong forms, he should have corrected the issue, so the son is at fault as well. So really, both are equally at fault.

Reading is knowledge, but most are obsessed with time and don't bother any more..... shows what can happen when you let "those that know" make your choices for you!
