And now the US ambassador to Libya was killed.
Is that an act of war? Should we cut off funding to them?

The news is still coming in. It looks like a coordinated attack on two fronts not unlike 9/11 (and notice the timing) but far less sophisticated. I would guess the Muslin Brotherhood or one of the known terrorist groups.

Unfortunate turn of events. Just another case of the chickens coming home to roost. And what morons decided to make videos to instigate these events knowing it would put peoples lives in jeapardy?

Actually we need to leave them alone. Our military have been in their countries for years.

I can make any film I want (hypothetically) people's reactions to it are their own responsibility

those mobs are responsible for their own behavior - their actions are no one's fault but their own

I think most of us would like to simply leave them alone to "settle" things themselves and bring our troops home. A diplomatic mission is, however, sovereign US territory. Plus the human rights issues are fairly obvious at this point. there is no possible defense of islam at this time

islam apprently does not have the maturity in a political sense to understand many things - one of which is the fact that their open criticism of the US is a lot worse than one little viewed internet film. If they can criticize us we should be able to criticize them but they don;t see it that way - they want TOTAL CONTROL and that is scary

edit : I am speaking of radical extremist groups not legitimate citizens and their families who practice their religion legitimately in a non violent fashion

That's just it. Morons not the view of America. Islam the religion of peace? Why don't they understand it was an individual doing this NOT AMERICA. Someone makes a video and that's a pass to murder?
There was 2 diferent embassys attacked on the anniversary of 9/11
Coincidence? I think not. It was a planed attack. AN ACT OF WAR!!!

conrad I think you & metalwing make a good point about the jihad and terrorist groups - the issue is not the legitimate governments in those countries - the issue is international terrorism stemming from the actions of extremists groups.

in America it's important to maintain the distinction because we don;t want to paint people with one brush. just because someone is arabic or islamic does not mean they are a terrorist - those factions are generally small enclaves but they cause a great deal of trouble. I think because America is a champion of human rights our people need to be reminded that there are more vicitms than terrorists in countries like Libya and Syria

there my rant for the dayflowerforyou

Any Muslims that have ever had any type of contact with extremists need to be rounded up and shipped to Mecca.

That should include those with the NOI.

PS
We shouldn't become suckers, allowing abuses of our good nature and pro-human rights.
Extreme Muslims see that as a weak trait.

They will never leave us alone. The Quran says that all non believers shall die by the sword. Even if we pull out and leave their lands they will still attack us. It is a violent and dusgusting cult.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — The provocative anti-Muslim film implicated in mob protests in Egypt and Libya received logistical help from a man once convicted of financial crimes and featured actors who complained that their inflammatory dialogue was dubbed in after filming.

The self-proclaimed director of "Innocence of Muslims" initially claimed a Jewish and Israeli background and said he had gone into hiding because of the international controversy set off by the movie. But by day's end Wednesday, others involved in the film said his statements about his background were contrived, and evidence mounted that the film's key player was a southern Californian Coptic Christian with a checkered past.

Nakoula Basseley Nakoula, 55, told The Associated Press in an interview outside Los Angeles that he managed logistics for the company that produced "Innocence of Muslims," which mocked Muslims and the prophet Muhammad and may have inflamed mobs that attacked U.S. missions in Egypt and Libya.

Nakoula denied he had directed the film, though he said he knew the self-described filmmaker, Sam Bacile. But the cellphone number that the AP contacted Tuesday to reach the filmmaker who identified himself as Bacile traced to the same address near Los Angeles where Nakoula was located.

So much for blaming the Jews!laugh

It is interesting that the initial reports somehow were related to
Jews and Israelis but now it appears those reports were false and
misleading.

I would point out though that there is never any excuse to kill
anyone for voicing a political opinion or criticizing a religion
and it bothers me that even those Muslim leaders who have come
out against the violence in Egypt and Libya over the film are
only saying that it is wrong to punish innocent people for someone
else's sin.

I have not heard any Muslim leaders who are actually coming out and
saying that it is wrong to attack and kill a filmmaker, comedian or cartoonist
for making an offensive video, comedy routine or cartoon.

Why are Muslim leaders not being more vocal about the barbarity
and immorality of violently attacking a filmmaker, comedian or
cartoonist or anyone for that matter whose only crime is
insensitivity, crudeness or blasphemy?

I want to hear the Muslim leaders saying that it is not for people
to judge the speech of others and it should be left to Allah -
that violence and killing is ALWAYS wrong and not permitted by any
reasonable interpretation of Islam.
