I cook competitively and have cooked for charity events. I cooked for three Mingle mixer events so I have witnesses.

It's a hobby.

I grew up in an environment where the man came to the table and was served. The fly in that ointment was when he couldn't/didn't earn enough the woman went to work and I became the cook and housekeeper raiseing my younger siblings until I worked and supported myself. I made up my mind then and there that it was going to be a shared responsiblitlity in my home as an adult. My late husband wasn't a great cook but he took turns and even helped put things in the freezer when he was deployed serving our country because he wamted to be and equal every day every way as a spouse and parent. And I worked to help not only my career but his also because we didn't have the "I" conscept but we did have the "we" concept of love and life.

I sure miss being a part of a "we" with my husband.. If one of our cats got sick we both jumped-up and went to our "stations" to clean-up the mess and comfort our cat!.. We were a "team" when it came to all aspects of life. (Cooking included and housework etc.)...Sorry that you lost your husband. It's been 2 years since my husband passed away.

Hang in there Hun. It has been years for me but I remember the early years being tough. Helps to just make some pals to share stuff especially the holidays. Not remotely close to having a spouse but beats doing it alone.
