*sighs*
my point...is that...if a woman does not read the forums, how would she know it's a joke? you've chosen a name with a sexual number. it does NOT offend me, personally...but i could see how women would maybe think that you were after sex. just bein' honest. |

i agree if i see the number 69 makes me think they are after sex

I first thought it was year of birth.... so everytime you people see the number 69 you think of a sexual position? Pardon me for saying so... but that's pretty sad.

there are so many men on these sites that use 69 as a sexual reference.

WM -- not to be judgmental or anything, but, for a lot of people, certain words or numbers, etc., can carry sexual connotations, whether that is your intent or not.
Several women from various sites have told me that they would be reluctant to contact a man whose screen name seemed, in their opinion, "better suited for a sex site." I believe you when you say you chose the name as a joke, and I wouldn't doubt that people who got to know you might come to understand that over time. The problem is that there will be a fair number who won't look past the name, seeing it as a red flag from Day One. It's really just a miscommunication thing. But people do pay attention to screen names. I know, for myself, there are certain words that may appear in a woman's screen name that will automatically prevent me from having any desire whatsoever to contact her. Is that fair? No, not really. But I've determined what my own red flags are, and I'll stick with them because my history has shown me I need to be aware of them. And I think it's the same with the women who see "69" and then back away. It just has a "sex site" feel for a lot of people, and the only way to overcome that "first impression" is by showing that who you are is not at all defined by the screen name. But that can take some time, because people are often unable to see past that "first impression" very easily.... |

To each his own, I use the year 1958, when I was born. Like you said....this is 2007. If people are offended, then that's their problem, you should not make it yours. If Mike and Van saw it as being offensive, I'm sure they would not have allowed you to pick it as part of your screen name. I could think of other offensive things....
