Topic: Money or IQ? | |
---|---|
Would you prefer to have been born into money? Or would you prefer to have been born with a high IQ? Both would be great, but choose one and why?

A high IQ. As long as I had access to an unlimited number of book. I'd hate to be like that guy on The Twilight Zone who finally had all the time in the world to read after the world was destroyed. And then he broke his glasses.
On the other hand, if I had money I could build a cabin and live far away from people. And just sit quietly in nature. |

Well if you have a high I.Q ...obviously the money will come next.
I was born into money and I have a high I.Q = I WIN !!! |

I didn't get to choose...A high IQ isn't all it is cracked up to be either.

I would say high IQ because the money would then follow.

I would say high IQ because the money would then follow. Actually, no...Not quite as easily as you would assume, anyway. |

I don't know what my IQ is. I'm guessing it's pretty average. I wonder if I would understand more stuff if it was higher. My step-dad is super smart. He pretty much knows everything.

Maybe wisdom is better than a high IQ?

Actually, I'd rather be born with a talent. Like playing the piano. Or counting cards.

A high IQ comes with scatter-brain. You process everything into minute details, and then process the minute details into minute details...It is, well, a struggle at best. And then taking into consideration that intelligence is not nearly as valued today as it was in the 1500's, such as times of da Vinci and the likes, you're effectively alienated socially. And that isn't even tapping the expectations of society once they learn you have a high IQ...Might as well burn us at the stake at that point, because inevitably we will disappoint you. *Eh, got the date wrong.* |

Maybe wisdom is better than a high IQ? Yep. You hit the nail on the head. |

I will take the money ,then it won't matter if I have a high IQ or not.

I'm pretty people savvy (not by choice) but there are still sometimes when simple things people do and say go completely over my head. Social skills do not come with a high IQ either, if anything it impedes them. |

One of my college psychology professors stated that the only thing an IQ test measures is how well one does taking that particular IQ test.
So, how would you know if someone really had a high IQ? |

Rather have the IQ. Money comes and money goes but if you are intelligent you can generally recover. I don't buy that an intelligent person is necessarily neurotic. Many smart people are wise enough to keep it to themself. Very much agree with the wisdom remark.
