I guess we should all kill the gays too since that is what the bible says. So what married women who are unable to get pregnant do not what love is either. You have to be a child bearer to know what love is. What a bunch of crap.

Well it says in the Bible gays must be put to death. So I guess the Bible as a moral guide is outdated. Some people years ago believe it or not actually did not allow blacks and whites to get married. I mean the same nut-jobs probably used some religious rhetoric to say it was morally wrong.

whoa Once again someone uses the straw-man argument of pointing to something in the Torah that doesn't apply to Gentile followers of the Messiah, as if the Apostles never said what they say in Acts 15:24-29.

That is not to mention the fact that a gay or lesbian can STILL have and raise a child in other ways if they so choose. So the idea that they can't have kids falls flat regardless. They may not be able to do it the traditional way, but they still can.

I just will ask one question, why are you people so threatened by two people who love each other wanting to marry for? Is that gonna REALLY affect your own marriages? Leave your dogma behind for a second, what they do is NOT gonna impact your lives unless you let them. Period.

who feels 'threatened'

Im not threatened by someone else eating chocolate cake all day , but that doesnt mean I would support the government promoting, encouraging, or supporting such a choice

relationships are a choice,

encouraging men and women to commit to each other sets a strong foundation for future children, families, and communities that will arise out of a man and a woman sharing a physical moment,,,,

nothing else is 'the same', nothing else needs to be encouraged or promoted with the same passion or commitment,,,,

But not everyone WANTS or has the desire to commit to the opposite sex! You are in effect telling them their love is not as good as yours because they don't love the same way, and trying to use YOUR morality to dictate what they legally can or cannot do. I don't care how you wanna try and justify it, it is flat wrong. Live and let live, it's not hard.

and the law dosent dictate that anyone and everyone HAS to commit to the opposite sex

so there is no problem there,,,

Oh that's a load of crap! The law OPENLY discriminates against same sex couples as they cannot legally be together in the way a straight couple can be.

How the hell would YOU like it if we told you you couldn't marry another man because it goes against our beliefs of what is right and moral?

Put yourself in their shoes for a second, then maybe you might understand just why this is a problem.

I have cleaned up this topic. Get it back on topic and leave the insults and personal attacks OFF of the forums. Everyone is entitled to their opinions regardless of which side it's on. Please be respectful when you debate.

The gunman who fired on the Family Research Council disagrees with the morality standard used by that organization. Apparently the morality standard that he uses permits him to engage in an act of violence against those he disagrees with.

So, what morality standard do you use?

love and marriage are two SEPERATE topics

love whoever we want, no law stops it,,,

have a commitment or relation with whomever we want of consenting age,,,no law stops that either

have the government deem its support and license to whatever commitment you want to make,,,,,not if you are related, not if you are underaged, and not if you are of the same sex

yes if you are a man and woman, because that is what continues the population,,,,,,,and its best for the foundation to come from that beginning,,,, giving license to THAT choice makes sense and has pretty sound reasoning besides trying not to hurt feelings,,,,or make some statement about how every relationship is equal so long as there is 'love'

here is where we part ways, the law doesnt stop any consenting adults from being 'together'

the law just doesnt give any legal encouragement for any and all consenting adult relationships

BIG DIFFERENCE,,,

I have. I have many homosexual loved ones. As I have said before, if the issue is civil 'rights', Im all for 'civil unions' which allow ANY CONSENTING adults to enter contractually into a shared life of assets and interests

equating it to or calling it marriage which involves a sexual CONSUMMATION, is nothing I will ever consider the 'same' as heterosexual or anything I Want the government giving its stamp of encouragement to....

So mail order brides are acceptable. Forced marriages are acceptable. Child marriages are acceptable. Yet the media never reports these things.

Actually, the media have reported child marriages and forced marriages taking place in Third-World nations.

I am still waiting for supporters of same-sex marriage to state what morality standard that they use to determine right from wrong.

Apparently, the gunman mentioned in the OP uses a standard that allows him to shoot whomever he disagrees with.

While the Bible does address homosexuality, it does not explicitly mention gay marriage/same-sex marriage. It is clear, however, that the Bible condemns homosexuality as an immoral and unnatural sin. Leviticus 18:22 identifies homosexual sex as an abomination, a detestable sin. Romans 1:26-27 declares homosexual desires and actions to be shameful, unnatural, lustful, and indecent. First Corinthians 6:9 states that homosexuals are unrighteous and will not inherit the kingdom of God. Since both homosexual desires and actions are condemned in the Bible, it is clear that homosexuals “marrying” is not God’s will, and would be, in fact, sinful.

Whenever the Bible mentions marriage, it is between a male and a female. The first mention of marriage, Genesis 2:24, describes it as a man leaving his parents and being united to his wife. In passages that contain instructions regarding marriage, such as 1 Corinthians 7:2-16 and Ephesians 5:23-33, the Bible clearly identifies marriage as being between a man and a woman. Biblically speaking, marriage is the lifetime union of a man and a woman, primarily for the purpose of building a family and providing a stable environment for that family.

http://www.gotquestions.org/gay-marriage.html

To give sanction to gay marriage/same-sex marriage would be to give approval to the homosexual lifestyle, which the Bible clearly and consistently condemns as sinful. Christians should stand firmly against the idea of gay marriage/same-sex marriage. Further, there are strong and logical arguments against gay marriage/same-sex marriage from contexts completely separated from the Bible. One does not have to be an evangelical Christian to recognize that marriage is between a man and a woman.

I've asked that before, but no one has given an actual answer that makes sense.

Me too, and me either.

I keep asking people to identify what morality standard that they use to determine right from wrong.

Trying not to thump the Bible here.whoa

But you are speaking from an old testament point of view.

There has been offered to us a perfect way.

What would Jesus do?
As far as casting stones and killing a sinner...
He'd say, "Who among you is without sin? let him cast the first stone..."
After they dropped their stones and departed,

He'd say "where are your accusers?

He'd tell the accused to "go and sin no more".

God's law which has been the foundation of most civil laws

must always be held as a standard for mankind to live by.

We would not know that we were off course

if the lines of demarcation where not established and settled.

But none of us is perfect... as God is.

He has the power to forgive sins.

I hope you will all someday realize

that the God of the Bible is a God of Grace and Mercy.

The same Law that accuses you... forgives you

and says "go and sin no more".
